Are hyper-whites legal?

I realize the clear side markers are not DOT approved, but am I asking for trouble if I put in hyper-whites? I don't want to attract attention when I'm cruising at 85 on the Long Island Expressway.

Also, what does OE stand for?

Thanks.

Not sure about any legal hassles...even if they are OK in your area, there is always the chance of coming across a cop with an attitude or quota...

OE: Original Equipment

You need to have the light colors correct. Red for tail and brake, Yellow for blinkers and side markers, (white side markers are probably ok, just not to bright) White for headlights. The BLUE HID crap look alikes may or may not get you stopped, and definately will not pass inspection.

hyper-white fronts are okay with law if you have orange reflector. If your corner is cleared then it will be illegal. But on 2000+ maximas since there's orange bumper reflector(if you didn't clear them out). Then putting hyper-white bulbs in the corner will be fine, but rear turn signel must be orange. But I have hyper-white for both front and back plus the reverse light and haven't been hassled by cops yet. Also I have been pulled by cops alot and they haven't said anything about the hyper-whites. Most cops won't care long as corners are not blue.

White or amber are legal in the front...the front corners don't flash with the signals so it doesn't really matter. The main thing is you don't have orange reflectors anymore that's why it's not legal. But the cops prolly won't care or notice... Rears you should keep red...

red or orange are ok for rear turn signals or anything in between

rear corner markers must be red
front corner markers must be orange
front turn signals must be white or orange or anything in between
headlights...depends on where you live

trust me on this, i found out the hard way...got a ticket for hyperwhites in front corners and rear corners...you can put hyperwhite bulbs behind orange front markers and red rear markers but i don't see the point in that...and i have had hyperwhites on my license plate forever and never had problems so i'm pretty sure those are just fine
