i would buy it back and fix with all used/cheaper parts.....you'd still have your max and with extra money saved better with even more mods!!!!!

my boy did this exact scenerio with his g35.... frame had to be pulled as well but you would never know the difference, rides as smooth and without vibrations etc etc no problems associated with repairs and his was much worse than yours.... he ended up with the same car minus any car payments and a lot more mods..... worked for him ....

and ps i had similar accident with my max.....6k when i got estimates cause was the other guys fault, totally hit a side road barrell then jerked back on road and locked them up in front of me and i hit him.....investigation determined that was a no fault accident cause we were both at fault and i was following too closely so our own insurance companies would have to pay our own vechicles....well i only have liability so im not covered for my damages only damages i do to others...

make long story short i ordered all inner bumper support brackets from dave b but got both hids from junk yard all yellowed and faded out for 200 for both minus the ignitor ballasts and took original ones out of mine and just had body guy buff them...they look brand new ....also had hood, fender repaired insead of replaced....had windshield replaced, reproduction front oem bumper and grille and fogs instead of real oem and just transfered my oem burgar to it....then replaced bent front shock with full 4 set of illuminas which were by far cheaper than oem quotes from estimates and instead of the cost of one oem rim i had all four of my mille miglia replicas the sport editions powder coated a lighter more stock looking grey and repaired (all had rash on them, lol i know i am ashamed at myself too haha)

but anyway minus the illuminas total with paint was 1400....and estimates were for six grand!!!! granted my body guy is cheap but i supplied all the parts...but he not only matched my 2k pearl white old paint but also faded it up into top of hood and into both fenders....looks so much better than before accident.... basically is brand new front end

there are always ways to do it cheaper especially when buying your own parts but good luck with the new rides your looking at....all that searching for parts at their cheapest is not for everyone and did take me about 3 weeks to track it all down and get the parts in

make sure you haggle the price with insurance. last year i got into an accident. someone rear ended me and i got pushed to the front and hit another car. my rear end was done and the front was fixable. the insurance totaled it. they said the damage was $9XXX. my car value was $49XX ('00 maxima SE with 145XXX.). if i kept the car, they would give me $43XX. i said hell no. i wanted $49XX and i kept it. they granted my wish. i took all my after market parts and sold the car as is for $800 with no rims. loll. i made some profit. haha

usually its 30% of total blue book value....and lets face it blue book value is low, WE love our 5th gen's but they aint worth **** anymore...sure back in 2000 there was NOTHING like it no g35's,is 300's,etc etc and it was the sexiest thing on the road......but to see a STOCK max now with its lifted front end huge wheel gap and sunken in rear wheels.....they cry for mods...and idk any other car that a nice drop, proper offset 19's and a nice stillen lip kit can fix as well!!!! my car rolls with the best of new cars and is 11 years old! with mods that is

And a relative does autobody? wow i would def buy it back...you would most likely make money or have more mods done for free however you would look at it.. but just my .02....good luck with whatever you decide to do...

Please put your rims on or get stocks lol. Those "chrome things" that are on there now are absolutly hideous imo. Glad to see you got a new ride though!

I agree with you, when i crashed my max, i spent 1800 just to get her to be back on the road and i still have to fix the SRS light and bags, and some fender/door damage.

I replaced/learned to replace:
-lower control arm
-struts
-knuckle (thing where rotor,brake system)
-tie rods (inner and outer)
-axels
-brake pads only, wish i knew how to do the calipers

Luckily for me the VQ is so strong, she remained intact and so did the transmission.

So just get it fixed, and find that lady and give her some real back pain.

They are Motegi Racing MR125s, 18s weight about 20.4 lbs according to Tirerack...I weighed 44lbs rims and tire so pretty good and with the new suspension feels pretty quick stock.....and can't wait to put Full Cattman Exhaust on and some NWP products of course....

And Thanks Aaron for the comment...

THIS was the majority of that cost...
