SC'd Manual Owners....advice/help!

I finally got my car back from the shop...SC installed! But on my initial run, testing it out, I noticed that while I was coasting along at about 80mph, I took it out of gear and let it coast...but the RPM's dropped all the way down and the car shut off while I was coasting at between 70-80 mph!!! Of corse when I threw it back into gear, the car cut back on. When driving normally in traffic, it idles fine but when I'm at higher speed and I take it out of gear, it cut off a couple of times! It dosn't seem like a big deal but it didn't do this "pre-SC" so I need to get this right! I guess I should take it back to these guys and let them look at it again! Has anyone else with a manual sc'd max noticed this problem...and if so is there a simple fix? I guess I'try Stillen tech support also but if anyone has any info, let me know...Thanx.

You are bleeding off too much air through your BOV... tighten it a bit and try again.

Did you get the intercooler installed yet? How much boost (or what size pulley) are you running?

But he put "SC" before "manual" so it relates more to me than you.

yes but your rpm's wouldn't drop at high speeds because you are not SHIFTING MANUALLY and you don't have a CLUTCH so the title may relate to you.. but the problem lies more in my area

So did you really know how to answer his question regarding stalling? This doesn't really happen if you're N/A or nitrous'ed, right?

Actually i do.. when lots of carbon builds up or the Butterfly in the TB starts to stick.. this will cause stalling.. so it might be realated somehow.. who knows

Thanx Kev,

I'm at work now but tomorrow I'll tighten the BOV and try it again...It did seem to be a simple fix. The guys told be to break in the SC for about 2 weeks before they start the install on the intercooler...the guy that doing it will use the piping from my Place Racing CAI and customize it for my intercooler...I'm still running the stock pulley though...

No need to break in the SC. You can floor your car as much as you want... if you haven't already, reset the ECU.

Thomas is an exception. Let's see your dyno (with bent valve and all).

Try and take a deep breath Sprite... What? Can't? Sorry, forgot you had a 4th gen. What?

If you can get access to a scan tool then you can reset it easily, otherwise disconnect your negative terminal and leave it off for about 3 hours.

How much did the install cost?

What type of shop was it that did the install?

Thanks,
Jay

This is all very interesting...but lets cut to the real question:

Sprintmax VS. Y2Kevse...1/4 mile...who wins? Tq, no Tq...Hp, no Hp...does not matter. Who wins?

Should we start a thread to this effect?
