Vacuum Line
Vacuum Line
How important is it that the vacuum line be plugged into the intake? Ive had a little "mini air filter" or breather on that port since ive owned the car, and i just noticed that its not there anymore.. it must have fallen off recently.. How important is it really? Should i replace it with another breather filter? or should i buy another intake piece with the hole so i can connect the tubing...

Well your pic is not showing up so I am going to assume you are talking about the Crank CAse breather. Normally it goes from the front valve cover to the resonator on the intake. If you have capped it I sure hope you have capped both sides. I have heard that the hose's actually will lower the octane in the intake manifold. You should have them both filtered. You really do not want the car sucking in unfiltered air thru that side. Wether or not this has any negative effects on not having it connected to the intake I have no idea and would like to know myself.
The purpose of the vacuum line is to remove excess pressure in the crank case during hard acceleration, and also to recirculate blow by gases into the engine so they don't escape in the atmosphere and pollute. By adding a filter on the crank case, the gases under pressure will go to the atmosphere instead of going back inside the engine to be burnt.
