Nissan Evaluation Survey....

I'm not sure what it's called but when I was negotiating a price for my car, the salesperson told me that I would be getting a survey in the mail. It's 2 months since I had my Max and I haven't received it yet. How long did it take to get yours ? Should I even care ?

I got the survey a week after I purchase my car. It's BS. It's just a few questions on if you were happy with the dealership, the salesman and the service you received. I had a few problems with the dealership I went to so I just called nissan. They took care of me and fined the dealership.

I got mine about 2 weeks after buying the car. As far as I know this is something the dealership DREADS if they don't get an A+ from you when you fill it out. My dealership offered a free tank of gas if I brought it in and filled it out with the help of my salesman. He didn't like some of my answers and it was a little akward, but who cares, I went in with an empty tank and got it filled for free!

I wouldn't have cared if it weren't for the free gas.

I got a free oil change (+filter +disposal fees), + complimentary windshield wiper fluid + a tank of gas + a coupon for a free car wash (gave it to my dad, i hand wash my max)

I just handed him (the service rep) the nissan survey, and claimed my goodies!!!!

It would seem weird rating the guy with him right there with you but if your honest not much they can do.

hmm... your first oil change is supposed to be free (at least it was at my dealer)... I used the survey to get the second one free (+ some extras, such as a tank of gas, etc.)

I got mine 3 weeks after I bought mine. I gave the dealer and the saleswoman an A+, but only because I made a deal with the saleswoman. "You give me the bottom-line out-the-door tax-and-all-****-included price, have it ready when I get there, and get me in-and-out in under 1 hour, and I will write whatever you want me to on the form." <<<< And they did just that... no financing BS, no pusher-closer sales-helper, AND they gave me my car 1 day earlier than planned. Sorry to here that everyone else got a bum deal from the dealership.

Oh, I should mention that I didn't sell out... I had a good experience, and generally like my dealer (and salesman)... otherwise I wouldn't have handed them the survey in exchange for $40 worth of products/services.

The survey counts towards the performance of the sales rep, financee and dealer. It has a huge affect on the dealership. Nissan rates the surveys and then submits them to dealership to see how there customer service is. If the dealership does really bad through they year, Nissan can close them down.

You are partially correct, in that it does count towards the dealerships and reps performance. But it also counts towards some bonus $$$ for both. Thats why they offer free goodies to bring it back or drop it off blank. One bad score can ruin the salesmans quarterly bonus and throw management from Nissans kickback. Dont sell out for free this and that, this is where you can demand CHANGE from the dealer and Nissan. Make comments also as they are read and kept in a database. And yes, I have someone very close working for a dealer!

dang. i had no idea these things were so heavy, otherwise i would have filled mine out. i bought my car thru a broker so i just threw out the survey.
nissan should send those surveys around a year after you have your car too. then they'd sure as hell know about our paint.

Surveys are important, so remember that. Thats like your weapon when you need something done. Service dept. also gets surveys, so make sure you keep them.

What ****es me off is even if the transaction with the salesman and/or dealership sucked (i.e. you had to fight with them for every penny, they tried to scam you somehow, etc.) they still make a point to say "when Nissan sends you the survey, please fill it out with all 'excellent' responses." A$$holes. If they want me to fill it out with perfect scores they better make my whole experience perfect and pleasant and let me take it from there. Even though I was ****ed at points while making the deal for my '02 SE, in the end everything worked out to my satisfaction so they will still get a perfect score.

Well thats nice of you.. I mean sometimes the deal or experience can be ****ty. It could be that the dealership was to busy and the salesman couldn't explain or go over the car in detail. If the salesman or Customer realtions manager at least makes an effort to call you and tell you if you need anything else and he/she does it, then he/she deserves an EXCELLENT!

The problem with the survey is that anything less than 100% is considered failing. This is what pushes the dealers to cheat on it. No real-world transaction is going to be perfect, but if you actually answer the survey truthfully, your dealer gets screwed over even if they did a pretty good job.

What also ****es me off is that the surveys are not anonymous. I've heard of people who gave bad scores on a survey getting called and chewed out by the dealership! That sucks.

I'd think that names weren't given out, but it probably isn't too hard to find out who gave decent reports and who didn't if they know the car and who the sales person was.

Surveys are NOT kept confidential, UNLESS you mark a box on the last bottom part of the survey. If you DO MARK confidential then the only thing that appears on the dealers Nissan system will be "CONFEDENTIAL." Otherwise if you leave it UN-MARKED then it will give the dealership your complete vin # of your vehicle and then they can look up the deal with your vin and give you ****
