That vibrating license plate...

Hi Folks

My license plate only has screws on top, none on the bottom and it vibrates incessantly when the music is slightly cranked up.

Does anyone have any experience or ideas for quieting down the vibration?

Or do I have to drill holes and add 2 more screws to secure the bottom?

3M double sided tape works wonders.

Put a small amount of dynamite behind the plate and it will completely quiet.

To the OP, if you put dynamite behind the plate, be sure nobody smokes around it; it could get pretty ugly. ...or you can try Dynamat...

I use black plastic license plate screws for the top and bottom. On the bottom, I purchase rubber nipples (vacuum hose caps), cut them to length of the screw and then push screw into them. Looks like license plate is mounted with all 4 screws and the rubber keeps it from vibrating against the car...

Good idea, even better than the dynamite, which would quiet a lot of noises.

Is this what you mean by vacuum hose caps?

I'm thinking that if the top screws are screwed inside the sheet metal, doesnt that mean that the bottom screws will push the license plate outwards, even may have to bend it?
Trying to visulaize...

Dollar store, cheap sponge, shove it between the plate. Will work better than dynamat, I promise.

YES! I use the black ones that are readily available at all local parts stores.

Not at all. Let me see if I can get a picture of it. Looks perfect...

Just make sure you use the plastic license plate screws or same length metal screws.

lol

i'll try the different options here and see how it goes!
methinks that removing the plastic license plate liner would solve most of it.

I followed your suggestions and placed the 3m tape under the license plate and got rid of the hard plastic liner the dealership provided.

There is still some vibration, but it's coming from top of the trunk where the sub-woofer is located. Do I assume the vibration is normal or should I checking for loose screws or adding 3M tape in some strategic places?
