On another note, I'd probably USE Teins just because I have the option to adjust dampening with a touch of a button.

Tein's.

Can't really vouch for the Maxima, but they're pure excellence on my Talon.

Teins, smooth ride, great handling, adjustable range from stock height to 3" drop, great price for such an incredible product.

BC has very similar reviews and has been gaining a great reputation.

JIC has been going downhill, although everyone claims they're the best, they seem to be more prone to wear... ie. less reliable over time. That's just based on my research though not personal experience with the JICs.

And Ksport I would trust half as far as I can throw the box of them.

i'm going ot go on a limb w/ this about JICs...most everyone who has a set now has a used set, not too many maxima owners (5/5.5 gen specific) on these boards buy JICs, and if they do buy them their used, hence why they are 'prone to wear'. GrandHustle has JICs on his 5.5

Out of the 3 choices, I would go with the JICs. They have the greatest range of adjustments but still offer a comfy ride when properly adjusted. I've ridden in quite a few cars with JIC and they are amazing. A friend of mine is going on 6 years with his set and they are still fine till this day.

Honestly I thought the same thing for a while until there was deal I could not pass up. I bought Roy's (rroderiques) KSports and I have no complaints. The ride is way smoother than any spring/strut combo I've experienced. I have no experiance with any other COs, so I can't comment on that comparison.

KSports aren't junk though, they seem to get a bad rap. I don't have the GT's, I have the Pro's or whatever they're called either. They're like $850 new. Lol

Thanks for all the replies, but I have one more coilover setup that I thought I would throw in the mix as a lot of people on the site like the BC coilovers. How would the BC Racing D-10RM rate in this mix?

BC Type BRs were made with DD in mind. RMs supposedly ride better, but will require more maintenance/replacing if your car is a DD as they were meant mainly for the track...from what i've researched

I wouldn't have picked any of the choices...out of my price range. LOL

FWIW, I have the $850 KSports and I actually enjoy the setup.

OK, how do the BR's stack up then? I'm really looking for something that is going to be as close to reliable as OEm as possible. I will be using it for 99% daily driving and I won't be slammed. All that being said, I want to have the nicest ride possible.

I have BRs...love em, had em on since march and the person who had em before me had em on for a couple thousand miles...they ride awesome. these are my first coilovers so i cant call it btwn other coilovers...but best bang for the buck, this has been the best buy seriously.

if reliability is what you want dont mess w/ the RM series. get the BRs

Wow. Touch a nerve there?

Some years ago, I spent weeks trolling the Org for information. I kept a spreadsheet, and made countless bookmarks. Reading and re-reading, forming long term plans and priorities on various mods. And this was long before I started posting.

The trick here is never to apologize up front for searching and failing, because it's a cop-out and an invitation for ridicule. Another observation... it's all in the way you say things. If instead, the OP titled the thread "2011 Coilover Poll", and wrote, "I'm buying one of these 3 sets of coilovers, and set up a poll to see which set is more popular today." That would have side-stepped all the search dammit responses. And then people would have offered their opinions free-of-charge.

As for the ****... meh. After a while, you've seen one, you've seen them all. They're just ****.

Since I've never had sex with a wise man, I have to accede that point to you.

Regarding the topic at hand... having rode in Tunermaxima3000's car configured with a set of Tein SS, I've become a true believer in the benefits of coil-overs.

"Just" and "****" in the same sentence doesn't really seem right...

Back on topic though, I can only speak for the Teins. Had them on my old Maxima >80k and I had absolutely no complaints.

What you all think I can expect to get out of a good set of coils such as teins without problems? Tein insists they are every bit as reliable as OEM's, Ihave a hrad time believeing this, but.......I wish there was a chart of how much reliability you could expect to get based on the climate or drop of a particular set of coilovers.

Well hey now wait-a-minute, there's things to consider here:

There's height (no sloop or droop), there's nipple characteristics: color and coverage. Then you have hue, weight, density of the fun-bags. Real or fake.

Search your heart you know it to be true
---------------------------------

Drove the Talon (Tein's) today, didn't feel as good as I remember. Perhaps I'm just getting used to the Max (H&R's). Then again, I'm pretty sure Max (Teins')>Talon (Tein's) as far as comfort.

Southern Ontario, not a lot of snow but a lot of slush during the winter months due to all the salt trucks. Again, I won't have them slammed but....Also, how is that edfc controller for the Tein's? Is this worth the money? How often do you change your damper settings once you found what you like?

Unless you drive very spirited, you don't really adjust them. The EDFC is more of a 'cool' factor, not worth themoney unless you track or drive the living crap out of your DD, then want to drive your mom for groceries after.

If you're in South-Western Ontario (Toronto, and south of Toronto) like me, then I recommend the Teins, they have a twin-tube design and have been proven in cold climates, this is the reason I chose them over BC's. BC's have a single tube design, and there is insufficient test data and reviews in cold/wintery climates.

I wish they had a ride height adjuster that was remote controlled, now THAT would be worth the money, especially in the winter.
