Car bogs when shifting from 1 to 2 (03 se AT)
Car bogs when shifting from 1 to 2 (03 se AT)
my max is 03 SE AT with 99k, and everytime i take off from a red light, when the car shifts from gear 1 to 2, I can feel a uncomfortable bog there, I dont floor my car and just do normal driving, it shifts around 2500 rpm, and the other gears are allright, just from 1 to 2.. anyone has an idea?
thanks
thanks
1990 called, they want their plug wires back.
I suspect maf, as well. Idk why it would only do it on the 1-2 shift, but you can test it. Unplug the the maf and go for a quick ride. She'll be running crappy and slow, but if it shifts okay that way, I guess that proves it's the maf?
Not sure of TCM symptoms, though. No auto.

Not fully clear on what you mean by "bog." What is the rpm zone you are bogging in?
This sounds to me like normal operation at partial throttle, as you've described it. The transmission is shifting into a higher gear, I'm assuming at a low rpm. Yeah, it's going to bog some.
My car does the exact same thing. If I'm pulling out slightly (10-15% throttle), the car will shift into second, the rpms drop and the car sounds like it's bogging, because it is. It's working harder at a lower rpm to pull the car forward. As soon as I give it 25% or more throttle, it moves right along though.
Does your car begin to accelerate with additional throttle? Then this is normal. IF it DOES NOT want to accelerate with additional throttle, THEN you've got a problem.
So, what if you give the car MORE throttle (25% or more) when pulling out, does it still bog after the 1-2 shift?
I just about bet a Sprint Booster would resolve all your concerns!

I have this too. The shift from 1st to 2nd jerks the whole car around. All the other gears are fine. And it only occurs when the tranny fluid is warmed up, when its cold it shifts smooth as butter in all gears. I did a drain and fill and it made no difference, so I'm going to do another drain and fill while dropping the pan and cleaning the magnets/screen.
I have the Transgo HD2 kit, I don't think it gets much more firm that than!
My 1-2 shift had been a bit too smooth prior to the kit...slipping. It's just so hard to get a clear picture becuase experiences are subjective. So it's difficult to really say if there is a problem.
You talk about bogging, then we got on to the transmission operation. If the car is tuned up, I suggest you get us some information about when the car is shifting and the rpm band you say it bogs under.....help us with some more specifics. For example, I noted this morning that in light throttle, my car will shift into second and run about 1500 rpm. Not a lot of power being created at that point.
You also realize if you're running your defroster, it kicks on the a/c compressor? That will rob some power.

I have the same problem, its always in first gear right around 1500 rpms and only ever in first gear. If I rev it just above 1500 rpms though and milk the clutch more than I'd like then its fine. its really pissing me off. the whole car bogs like almost stops until I push on the gas to get it past that powerband area. 80k motor just installed, brand new clutch ,new coil packs and plugs.(00' SE 5-speed)
I would also add to check your VIAS for proper functioning. The diaphrams are known to go bad sometimes. Many ways you can check this. Harbor Freight sells cheap vaccuum tools which create vacuum to check if vacuum controled devices are operating mechanically as they should.
i had a similar problem recently and found out that the oxygen sensor that goes before the precat was bad.It did not have a check engine light and everytime a stepped on it a little form a dead stop it would bog and then go like a freight train. It was bank 2 sensor 2 the red wire sensor. I fixed it and no more bogging and as a member from here said it runs like a raped ape lol.
