Shift **** Removal

Hi there. I want to replace my original shift **** on my 2000 Maxima for one from an Evo X I got for free. The shift **** spins(its hard to spin), but I've spun it forever and there's no sign of it coming off. I even gave my self a blister, no bull, thats how much ive spun it. I was reading a few posts where people cut their shift **** in order to remove it. I guess my question is, how do you remove the shift **** on a 2000 Maxima without having to ruin the OEM shift ****?

Sounds like the plastic **** has broken away from the threaded metal insert. The insert is probably still "loctited" to the shaft which is allowing the **** to spin but not come off. You may have to break/cut the **** off then vice grip the threaded insert off the shaft

I was lucky with mine not having this happen. I used a strapwrench to break mine loose. Looks like you're gonna have to cut it. Just be careful in doing so.

I don't know if the Mitsu will work since I don't know their thread pitch. Most Nissans are 10x1.25 MM.
