And a damn fine machine it is.

Still got the red V6 as well.
show us some pics of the car in your drive way. Also, more details on the mods would be nice.

This is all I have so far. Bought the car after dark last night and have to work all day today and tomorrow. PO is going to bring me his receipts, I'll let you know. that's my kid's 97 Max at the bottom of the photo.

About the original question:

A Rule of thumb:
Mods (that are not defective or in obvious poor taste) add 1/3 rd of their retail cost labor and parts, or one half of their pure parts cost.

This is "gettable" in the car market time and again, assuming of course the mods are presented by a seller who knows to talk to them and can show receipts.

How do I know?

I have gotten it on sale when selling a modded car, twice.
I have paid it when buying a modded car, twice.

Always seems to work out like that.

Examples:
Sold a 2004 350Z in 2006 with 10k in Mods, parts+labor ( ATI Procharger, suspension Mods) to a private party for about 3-3.5 k above private party book
Sold a 240SX with 10k in Mods, parts/labor (SR20DET, Silvia front end, nice Enkei 16 inch wheels) for 4 k above private party book
Bought a 2004 Sentra SER SPEC V with 9k in poorly done mods, ( coilovers, 5zigens, BBK, SSBL, IHE, Xenons) for 2.5 k above private party book
Bought a 2004 350 in 2006, well modded with 13+k in Mods (Nismo Swaybars/ springs/ shocks, Vortech, BBS RGR 19's, BBK,graphics Kit) for 4 k above private party book

Private party, maybe, to a specific, knowledgeable market.
For me it de-values the car, tells me it was driven hard. I'd rather buy from Grandma Jones than her teenage grandson.

Dealer, Zero dollars for mods.

Even on a delaers lot you can get the one thirds rule assuming they put the right salesman on it who will learnthe mods and be able to speak to them intelligently ( this cnnot be taken for granted at some dealers)

Its just like learing a rare factory option package to explain whats in it.
Is it a tougher sell than a factory package?
Absolutely.

thats why its not 100% dollars or even 60% dollars...

The dealer must be prepared to reject book offers and hold out for the buyer who will pay the one third.

those are not as rare as some would think.
If your talking about the enthusiast market you migth get closer to 50% than a third.

yes it may make the car sell slower but it may also make it sell faster because these things may be real attention getters also.

The original question was.. "how much are Mdos worth when you sell?" and I do belive based on personal experience that 33 cents a dollar is the correct answer.

Fred..

PS: Nice car purchase

If you don't see it in the Kelley Blue Book, no appraiser at a dealership is going to add any amount of money for the mod. At least that is true at every California new car dealership that I have worked at in the last 25 years. Maybe elsewhere they will add for stuff they ignore here in California.
