The Flickering is a ballast issue, and looking at some of your pictures I can see that you are using a cheapo ballast, Either get an OEM style ballast or get the 3five from TRS

^ Interesting. I had read a ballast is just a ballast. Lights never did this on ebay projectors with same ballasts. I'll try to obtain loaner set to confirm, cuz I'll be bummed if I buy new ballasts & issue persists.

If I leave them as-is, will it shorten bulb life or have some other negative effect?

planning to do a retrofit myself and wanted to ask- those brackets - where you got them from and you said you just didn't use them? what's the reason?

Thanks everyone for the kudos. I guess I can say it's been a labor of love but I am definitely more than satisfied with the output results.

If you are talking about the clips that secure the bottom of the housings, there are two types: they gray ones are for the 02-03 style headlights and the white ones are for the 00-01 style. For adapting the 02-03 style lights to an 00-01, they lift the inner side of the light too much and they sit in place much better without them - I had seen this on some other posts, but had to find out the hard way.

You can get them at the dealership - they cost under $3/piece.

^ those brackets I did use. Those are the brackets inside the ebay headlight housings that hold the projectors and high beam reflectors. In the pic, you can see the lines I traced which are the outline where the G37 projectors need to fit in. I had to cut out the metal to make the hole that size/shape in order to mount the new projectors in there.

In the pic below, you can see the original projector and high beam reflector mounted on it:

^^^ now i got it)) thanks a lot
you should definitely give it another try with OEM light - should get noticeable difference, that's what everyone says and I have seen that difference side by side

great project and very good result here!

Are you talking about OEM HID bulbs, or just the OEM headlights?

OEM housings, but that is going to be hard as mounting the projectors is a hassle in that case - no preset position and lots of mounting hardware.

I have AE lights and in these housings it's much easier - just one projector almost of any size
in case with 5.5 you have to play around with them, as for the ballasts - stock are really good, but TRS has some good reviews on morimotos and I heard only good things about them from people

will go that route by my own)))

How did you mount the projectors? Bolts, epoxy, etc

Sorry for the delayed reply - I hadn't seen your post (didn't get email notfication for some reason |:/)

If you look at the pic above where I have the G37 projector mocked up into the black bracket, you'll notice the projector housing has ears with bolt holes. I drilled holes in the bracket and used a combination of 1" - 2" lag bolts to space and mount them.

I used a nut on either side of the bracket to obtain the proper spacing. Also, after installing them the rotation was off, so I had to slot the hols in the bracket to adjust the rotation. In this pic, you can see the holes, before I slotted them:
