Anyone has ever try to remove this fluted section of the 5th gen headlight. Let' just say I need it clear lens just like 5.5 gen do. I have 5.5 gen clear lens but it doesn't fit well with the 5 gen bezel.

 

I don't think you can or should remove the contours on the lens as I believe they are meant to direct the light source at the road ... where did you get the lens for a 5.5 gen did you purchase the separately or take them off the original 5.5 gen housing?

 

I have seen Matt from the retrofit store sand those down to the point where those are clean... I believe he was doing a retrofit on an older Acura RL with fluted lens... He cleaned the spot where the projector was shooing the light thru the lens... other than that..... currently I am working on a retrofit using ebay POS headlight... those lens are clean and seems like they might fit the 5 gen oem housing

 

Well....I'm doing something completly different with it. Yes, the riples is light diffuser but I'm thinking of projector trun signal retrofit.

I had a pair of 5.5 gen lights for other retrofit project.

 

A lot of the Ebay lights that has clear lens is more like 5.5 gen lights so the chance are the 5th gen bezel will flop around there.

I'm thinking of the next retrofit project. I want it to keep it at 5th gen housing and use one Bi-X projector (FX-R, TL, or maybe..maybe...RX330 Bi-X) and I'm thinking of small 2.5 inch projector out of Mini Cooper or fog lights like Matchbox to run for turn signal and city light. Maybe LED, but we'll see. That's why I need to clear that lens.....It's big ripple and it's in curvy in 2 directional. Sanding it will be a ton of work......
