I have an apexi, been using it for 30,000+ miles and have only had to shake it clean. Sounds awesome and built in velocity stack. Pricey though.

AEM dryflow, apexi, and Amsoil are probably the most preferred on this site, the three A's of the org. I personally have a blox because I have a blox velocity stack but really there was no need for this thread. You're lucky I'm in a good mood and not flaming your ***

Apexi dry flow here. Integrated velocity stack/bellmouth, and the opposite end of the filter has a tapered edge that directs airflow downward inside the filter.

a'pexi will work, yes.

I prefer the AEM Dryflow because it's a little cheaper, and negates the need for oil.

I have a Dryflow on my G coupe.

Only thing I have to do is blow it clean with an air nozzle every fourth or fifth oil change.

If it's a 3in pipe, then yeah it should. When I bought mine, it came with the Berk intake kit. The two filter options were the AEM and the Apexi, and I chose the Apexi. The filter actually came in a pop charger kit with the pipe, and it included an adapter that bolts to the bottom of the filter. Here's a pic of the kit I took before I put it together and installed it.

Apexi doesn't make intakes for our cars specifically. The intake I own is a Berk intake, with an Apexi filter. I ordered it from Evasive Motorsports. The Berk intake I bought was with the optional Apexi filter/pop charger, which is a universal fit. The Apexi pop charger part number is 500-A025. I went out to my car and took a few pics of it.

I went the the cheaper route and just dropped in a K&N replacement filter. Might look into fogging this airbox in the futire if possible, something we did on our 318ti's.

There's someone here on the Org that makes midpipes, I just can't remember who.

Here's the Berk intake kit. The picture in the link isn't correct, it's showing the 00-01 De-K intake for some reason.

$200ish bucks for a complete intake isn't too bad, considering how much other intakes for other cars are selling for. However you can piece together your own intake with a pop charger for less. I'm still trying to think of what Org member makes those midpipes. I don't want to drop anyone's name and it not be correct.

knight mentioned somewhere else he is too busy now and will have more mid pipes in a couple of months. I like to think he is too busy making the engine mounts. Search for that thread "new prototype" and buy the mounts too.

Foam filters are garbage. They have poor filtration and reduced airflow compared to the AEM and Apexi filters.

You've gotta remember, Clashez only buys top of the line stuff for his car. Just like his merrel bended OBX muffler.

Guess that means that our AEM and apex'i filters are junk compared to what he has!

Yes, but the mid-pipe isn't what determines fitment. It's the adapter.

Anyway, this is the old powdercoated Frankencr mid-pipe right here on my car.

Apexi makes a number of different sizes for their adapter. That's not the right one, as you can see by the way you've stretched the coupler to fit.

At the very least you should buy a coupler that reduces diameter on both ends. At best, get a proper sized adapter.

And worm clamps... yuck.

I've replaced two of the worm clamps on the other end of the intake. I haven't got around to replacing these ones yet. As far as the coupler stretching over the provided Apexi unit, the Apexi outer diameter is thicker, even though the internal diameter is the same as the MAF adapter, which is thinner walled and doesn't have as thick of an outer diameter, so it's not stretched on.

I think he just like them tight. Worm clips aren't the prettiest but so aren't most of our engine bays. I just looked at some of your under hood pics and I am astonished at how clean it is

The only reason the turbo guys run foam filters is to reduce the risk of implosion. Ever seen an air filter get sucked into a spinning turbo? Not a pretty sight.

Alot of those cars get sponsored, so if Greddy is one of them, then the owner has to use Greddy parts, hence the filter.

I didn't think of that. The foam would get chewed to bits if it imploded into the turbo.

If they want to run a foam filter, it's their choice to do so. I would rather run a stock paper filter on my car over a foam one any day. There's a reason why foam filters are used on cheap push lawnmowers. They're cheap.
