insurance question help

Ok today we got insurance from geico on one of are cars over the phone, are computer is down so we were driving to a friends house. to print out the card but got pulled over and the cop gave her a ticket for financial responsibilty, even tho we do have insurance. So when we go to court to fight it will we still have to pay for the ticket....
p.s im typing from my crap phone sorry if my post is sloppy.

Here in Florida, to my knowledge, you have to show proof of insurance. If you've switched from one insurance company to another, there should still be some "overlap" of coverage, so I would have presented the former insurance card.

Your best bet is to contact your new insurance company, and see what the law is with insurance in your particular state.

It depends on the municipality. Typically, the courts will dismiss it if you have proof that you were insured on that date.

If you can prove the vehicle had insurance at the time/date you got pulled over you have a pretty good chance of getting the ticket dropped.

other wise , dont bother and pay it.

Typically an auto insurance policy goes into effect at midnight and if the car had a previous policy it would expire at midnight of the last day it was insured to or at midnight the day you cancelled it. I know here in Ontario that if you fail to show proper coverage or drivers license you can normally go to the police station within 24 hours of being given the ticket to show that coverage was in place.

fight the ticket and you won't have to pay it. Idk about Florida but in MA and CT everytime I've been pulled over or got into an accident they never asked me for Proof of Insurance

Tennessee state law considers all registration tickets a "fix-it" ticket.

Show them that you had insurance during the stop, and they'll drop the charge.

I've never heard of anyone getting pulled over to check insurance. It is usually a secondary citation after getting pulled over for a brake light out, registration not current (that would be my guess) or speeding, etc etc etc.
