Why not just get a 2000 or 2001 Engine...know its the same engine but dont know if its all in the ECU for the power or what the 222hp vs the 190hp...GL...

Short answer, yes it will.

Its not all in the ecu, main reason is the intake manifold.

The ealry version of the VIAS is used. A valve opens up at a certain RPM to let more air in.

*late to the party*

Yes, to get it function like you motor did previously you'd need to salvage some parts from your current motor.

Best part is you're starting off with the magical 4th gen DE

.... instead of some lame DE-K

I think the VQ30DE has a slightly better cam setup than the DEK, someone w/ more knowledge can expand upon or refute that.

More aggressive because of the lack of variable crap on our motors. The DE-K was made to be more like a Honda with it's power band thus why the "weaker" cams because they were made in conjunction with the DE-K's UIM.

I THINK the results will achieve more low end than a stock DE-K but the HP could peak earlier than the stock 6400 peak.

Been done already. Benefits to putting in a 4th gen motor are that they are easier to find. The cams (exhaust only if I'm not mistaken) are a little more aggressive (not enough to be that noticeable). You don't have that extra coolant passage in the way of the knock sensor. And lastly, they are usually a lot less expensive. Just swap over everything from the lower intake manifold on up from the Dek and your good.

This is currently how a local 5th gen is running down here.
