what size exhaust pipe to use? here is the answer
#42
Yes it is isn't it! Btw does anybody know whats the best exhaust for the maxima? I want to make 300 whp with exhaust and a flash is that possible? Should I add NOS as well for that extra boost at the drag strip? What about intake? Can I put the MAF sensor from the honda a produce vteccccc numbers?

There's more to power than just exhaust piping diameter.
Diameter will give you gains, sure. But it's also dependent upon the length of your exhaust exactly WHERE in the power band you'll see those gains. I remember reading a long, well-written explanation about this on a Mustang forum somewhere. I lost the link, though. It's all pretty simple physics. And I'm pretty sure the calculations showed that the shorter your exhaust piping was, the better numbers you saw in the low-end range, and vice-versa.
"Backpressure" is a myth, by the way. It doesn't exist.

to sad people had to f**** ***p this thread, hopefully these fools are gone cuz we dont need them, like I said I just wanted to share info I found on the tv and if it was wrong I think we all free to clarify and to give the right answer because this question about exhaust piping is all over the forums.

remember your thread???
do you remember your thread?:
Hell on Wheels
Has anyone seen the previews for the new t.v. show on AMC called Hell on Wheels? It looks like it's gonna be a really good show, especially getting to watch some old steam locomotives in t.v.
keep watching that s****** lol, I think that was the worse thread ever.

Yes sir.
I wish, for the love of all things holy, I could find the thread I read a while back on a Mustang forum about the physics of building an exhaust. The kid was in-depth, and very detailed about everything.
He broke down how exhausts of varying diameters and lengths will net you gains in different parts of your power band.
That was OT. Anything goes in OT. If you think that was the worst thread ever, I think you need to do some more reading.
