Noisy while driving

O.k so I've officially went for me 1st drive in the AE since purchase, the car doeshave onedonut one due to a flat, now I notice while driving the drive is pretty noisy, almost sounds as if the car needed some kind of belt but it doesn't sound like the noise is coming from the front of the car, sounds like the rear..... just sitting and listening it would sound like some of the sound does come from the front but majority is coming from the rear....

It's my understanding they're tagged for easier tracking anyways.

I would wait on any serious diagnosis until you get that donut tire off of there. It's a whole different EVERYTHING... rubber compound, tread, PSI, everything. It's bound to contribute all sorts of wonkyness.

K so back to all seriousness... I got the tire replaced today, and it did take away a lot of the noise, however it is still there, before with the donut ill get the noise from 2nd gear up, under regular driving circumstances... now the noise is there at about 3rd gear 2500rpm, so... 3rd gear just about lol... the difference this time is the fact that on right turns its gone and straight and left turns its there... i also just ordered two "Replacement" OEM bearings for the front, figure change one i change em both.... the only semi puzzling thing is that the noise sounds like its coming from the rear, even though it goes away on right turns.... now what i would like to know is if somehow the rear hub is rusted or bad or whatnot, wouldnt it just make the sound whether or not im turning???... never really come accross a maxima where the rear is bad.... i spoke to a local mechanic who owns a 5.5 and he said he's never even had to mess with the rear of these cars so its most certainly odd... any advice??? should i just buy a rear hub and is it easier to change the rear vs the front???

I have certainly heard of a lateral movement causing a wheel bearing to make noise. Sounds like it is at the beginning stages of failing. Do you hear it when freely spinning the wheel on a lift? Is there any play when you shake the wheel from top to bottom while on lift.

rear bearings for the 5th gen is almost impossible to find, they sell the whole hub..., ive already ordered 2 front bearings.. i dont have a lift, i dont even have tags yet, still waiting from our tags n title office.... i will probebly still replace both the front bearings just because.... hubs are about $100 per... i definately dont have the $$$ right this second, i kinda want to attack the more important one............ anybody with a good site to get a rear bearing or do i really have to buy the rear hub???

^ buy rear hubs, its easier to replace then to mount and press in just the bearings..take of brake caliper, pads, brake caliper bracket, rotor and then the only thing holding onto the hub is just the "axle nut"!! and wah lah..hub comes right out..just make sure to grease up the new hub and the shaft that the hub goes on too!!

+1 on the lateral noise being bad bearings.
