Brembo Big Brake Kit for the 5th/5.5 gen maxima
#81
^ Once I get a complete set of brackets made, I can weight the rotor, loaded caliper, and brackets together to give you an idea of the weight. But IIRC the caliper is 9 pounds and rotor is 20 pounds. I do not know the weight of the stock 5.5 gen brakes though.

Something to consider for those upgrading only the fronts with these kits...

OEM studs inside the knuckle
Bracket Installed
Caliper and bracket
Almost there. Ran into a small issue with the caliper touching the studs in the knuckle. It is a really tight fit. The issue that arrose is that the head of the stud touches the caliper. I am currently thinking of ways to get around this. Worse comes to worse the head of the stud can be ground down or a stud with a thinner head needs to be found.
The brackets are however ready and I have 3 sets of them available.

Would this allow the STi Brembos to be used as well?

That might be a possibility since the Sti Brembo calipers look similar. I would need them dimensions from the calipers before I would be okay with telling people they can purchase the calipers.
I sent PM's to the people that inquired about a set of brackets. Please chime in guys and let me know what you think.

I am still thinking in how to go-about this stud ordeal. But I will explain what exactly is going on.
The OEM nissan maxima studs that sit inside the knuckle are touching the Brembo Evo Caliper. The thickness of the head of the stud needs to be either thinner or the other option is to remove some material from the actual caliper.
The two spare calipers that I have been modified to make the fit perfect. You might not even have to remove the material from the caliper and just make the stud head flat and get away with it. I am going to attempt this next and see what happens. Also apparently this is a common issue when using these calipers and relocation brackets on other vehicles.
Here is a shot of the caliper and you can see where the material was removed. The half circle is where the studs head touches the caliper.
And another shot of both calipers.
Now I have 3 sets of brackets complete and ready to go out. If the buyers of the brackets do not feel comfortable doing this to the calipers, I am willing to do it free of charge. Just send the calipers to me and I will mod them and return them to you.
Please share your thoughts and opinions.
thanks

Tried that. The head of the bolt ends up being even bigger then the stud. If a smaller bolt is used, then it isnt the correct size for the hole and the bracket moves around.

That will not work either.
Here is a picture of the studs so you can get a rough idea of how the head looks.
I do not mind modifying the caliper and it is not a big deal. That is why i mentioned the option of people sending the calipers to me and I can send them back with the brackets. I guess i can also purchase the calipers people want from ebay, have them arrive at my place, mod them, and then send them back. However I am not going to be buying calipers and having those lay around with brackets.

Shift_max, what are your thoughts on using the srt8 brembos? Apparently they resell for a cheaper price and they are made to work with a 14.25" rotor. Here is a link to someone that has made brackets for them to fit the 300z. Reason I ask is because locally someone is selling their brembos for 300 which includes the rotors, calipers, pads and hard lines. I would be happy to send them to you for fabrication if you think it is doable.

Start getting into a 14.2" rotor and you're looking at most likely 18"+ rims. Correct me if I'm wrong but if I'm right that only drives up the cost.
Stock SRT8s run 20" rims, right?
That's not to say you can't run the SRT8 calipers on smaller rotors, with the right bracket.

Also using a 14" rotor on the front, I would highly suggest upgrading the rear rotor size as well right away. Plus I would need to do some research into piston size of the calipers. See the nice thing about the evo is that it came also with a 12.6" rotor.
My opinion is that it would be a custom kit just for you.

I am out of the country till this Wednesday guys. I do apologize for not returning the messages that certain members have sent. I know that is not very professional of me.
The only update I can give to those that are interested is to wait till I get back. I am still going to produce a couple of sets.
Thank you guys once again

Btw for people tat inquired on how exactly to install the brackets, here is a picture of the brackets installed.
The wheel studs that are included in the hardware kit go into the knuckle with the threads facing towards away from the rotor.
