Thermostat with Housing?

I needed to replace my thermostat and based on what others have said here about the quality of 3rd party, I decided to get a Nissan original thermostat.

I was told by the local Nissan dealer that the thermostat only comes with a housing as an assembly. I checked the Courtesy Nissan parts catalogue and I don't see it that way - they have the thermostat as a separate piece. Furthermore, the housing isn't even listed.

Has anybody heard of this? I'm in Canada, so maybe the parts are set up differently?

Thanks,

PJ

Based on the parts diagrams I have, the thermostat comes with the housing and does not have a seperate number. The part number is different between a 2000/2001 and a 2002/2003.

Here are links to parts diagrams. You want to look at reference # 21200 along the left side.

Okay, now I see it, I guess Courtesy didn't use the actual picture of the assembly, it looks like a generic thermostat. Thanks for the clarification!

Okay, so I replaced the thermostat - topped up the coolant - bled the system - levels look good - heat is good - no leaks.

Quick question - when the HVAC control is in AUTO, are the rads fans supposed to be on all of the time? When I select MANUAL the fans go off. It make sense, but I just wanted to be sure.

Thanks!
