Oilpan & rear main seal question...

I recently bought a 2000 Infiniti I30 and its leaking oil. From what I can see I know the oilpan and rear main seal needs replacing. However, I am confused about exactly what I need. Since when I search I'm finding rear main seal set, rear main seal (seal only), and rear main seal w/ housing. I live in Belize and can't get any parts for the car here so I need to import them myself so I just want to make sure I get everything I need. Are these the only three parts needed to replace the oilpan gasket and rear main seal? Thanks in advance.

Lower oil pan gasket

you only need the top two and use liquid gasket for the lower oil pan.

Use www.nissanpartsasap.com for best prices. Also, call and talk either to Ray or Wayne. They'll help with shipping.

OP you only need liquid gasket for the upper and lower oil pans(Permatex Ultra Grey) is what I suggest. Also the FSM uses liquid gasket.

You need the rear main seal set as well. I do recommend the site chris gave you but if its down then Im sure you can message chris and get their number to call directly(They have the cheapest OEM parts online I've seen.). However you can go to Courtesy's site(http://www.courtesyparts.com/) but prices are a little higher and so is shipping, but both beat going directly to the dealer. I would recommend going OEM when replacing seals especially that RMS. good luck

Not sure if that is toll free. Only number I've got though. Check the site Monday. Either way, Ray will be in that morning.

It will be too expensive for me to call him from here. So I guess I will just order from courtesy...correct me if I am wrong, but these are the parts needed? The Permatex I can get in Belize.

This comes with the seal in it right and not just the retainer part itself?

^^^This is a bit misleading.

OP. You'll need "Oil Pan Gaskets"(lip seals) #11121-31U10 and 11121-31U00, Permatex Ultra Grey per the FSM as previously stated, and "Retainer oil seal, rear"(RMS) #12296-31U20. Verify here.

Personally, I would reseal the upper and lower oil pans before I jump into the RMS. The latter is much more labor intensive. The majority of "my rear main seal is leaking" diagnoses are incorrect. The lip seal is typically what is leaking.

nelledge you are correct about the lips seals, just seen those in the FSM(different section that where I thought it would've been)

Thanks guys. I really am in love with this car and I'm new to the Nissan/Infiniti world so it's nice to have knowledgeable help around. I think I will try just sealing up the upper and lower oil pans since I'm strapped for cash. I still am gonna order the rear main seal though.

Also does the exhaust have to come out of the way? Should I buy gaskets for that too?

Would help a lot to get the exhaust out of the way. And crossmember. But that needs no gaskets.

I ordered the stuff this morning from Courtesy Parts. Only thing they did not have were the 2 exhaust gaskets for the Y pipe only the one in the rear where it meets the rest of the exhaust. So I got the 2 lip seals for the upper oil pan, the rear main seal, the 2 O-ring seals, and the exhaust gasket for the rear for the y pipe. I had also previously ordered valve cover gaskets and plenum gasket, I should have checked here first and got them from Courtesy.
