usa spec ipod

I have a 5.5 and factorybose setup. Does this unit retain the stock sub? When using a cassete adapter with my ipod I loose all the bass in the system for some reason. Thanks in advance

Your cassette adapter is bad if you have the issues only when you use ipod. If you dont have bass all the time or sometimes when you listen to radio, cd etc then its your sub amp.

If you trying to use the USA Spec Ipod adapter that connects to the back of the stock headunit you need to get a 5th gen(2000-2001) stock headunit, don't think the 5.5 w/ 6 disc can be used because there is no aux

Get a cassette tape and play it in your car to see if it is the cassette player in the Bose or if it is something in the ipod connection.

If you can find a cassette head cleaner, get one and use it.

Also, if the cassette adapter doesn't make good contact with the head that reads the tape, it won't sound right. I find that sometimes I have to give a slight tug on the adapter wire or lift up on it slightly to get it to align up better, which improves the sound quality.

Cassette adapters are the most inferior type of audio adapters, so you really shouldn't expect much, especially in terms of quality, from them.

USA SPEC also makes the PA15-NIS for Nissans. That adapters uses a digital connection, so 100% of the audio from your iPod will get delivered to the factory stereo.

I have a Monster cassette adapter and the sound quality is the same as playing a c.d... I just have to make sure that the head reader aligns up with the tape head, which isn't that big of a deal. Just an occasional tug on the wire every once and a while, and that's it.
