Warranty coverage of Brake Rotor TSB

If you've had your rotors fixed according to the TSB, did you have to pay any charges, or does the warranty fully cover everything that was done?

I had my brakes replaced twice under warranty... As long as you still have under 36k, you're still covered for most defects and malfuctions... They don't charge you until you authorize to do a repair that isn't covered!!!
IE.. If your rotors are warped and you have no thread left on your pads, you'll have to pay!!!
Or if you are like me and paint the calipars and ask them to do the TSB... They still did the work but also voided my warranty on brakes..

Before I go to the dealer, I'll remove the OSCAI hose, but I'm wondering what they'll say about the FSTB and RSB. I haven't been to the dealer for any service since I bought my car last February.

LOL.. I went to the dealer so they can check out this rattling I had under the hood... They told me it was my cold air intake hitting against the edges of the hole... They actualy wrote that on the service sheet... I have silicone hoses, SS wires & looms, polished and painted Valve cover etc... Only thing dealer told me was stop beating on the car and comeback later if I have any other problems in the future!!!!

Where can I find that TSB for rotors? I need to replace my rear brakes after only 18k.

Re: Warranty coverage of Brake Rotor TSB

it said 3 year / 36k miles on the TSB for 2000 max. not sure about 2k1. I know a lot of dealers will say that brake is a "wear and tear" items.....I got mine fixed once but I believe it is going to warp again soon...it is turning blue again,.

Look in the *Important* TSB thread at the top.

i had my rotors cut and pads replaced at 10k. the steering wheel was shaking like crazy and they replaced both at no cost. they said if they warp again, they will replace them with new rotors and pads because they wouldnt advise cutting them again. i went in with my fstb and rsb and they didnt say a word about it.

I can't find it. I don't see anything on top of this page that reads "Important" TSB. I must be dense or something.

I've seen that TSB before somewhere but I don't think this TSB regarding the brake judder (strange name) would apply to my rear brakes going out after 18k....right?

the brake judder comes from the rotors warping prematurely. when the rotors warp, the steering wheel will shake, and the pads will eventually get messed up from running on warped rotors. that would cause the pads to go out. braking is typically 80% front and 20% rear. if the pads are gone, id guess the rotors are shot too espically with that low of miles.

Dealers will only honor the TSB for 2000 maximas not 2001. I just paid 90$ to get my front rotors machined. The dealer claimed that Nissan fixed the problem in the 2001s. hmmm ...then why do all of us with 2001s still have the problem??

Sorry to tell you this, but I went to a dealer that honored the TSB for my 2k1. Read about it in this thread
AFAIK, Nissan did jack **** to fix it in the 2k1. They're the same rotors, aren't they?

The TSB says 2000 Maxima..nothing about the 2001. The dealer told me they changed the pads in the 2001. I know its total BS..I plan to call Nissan NA and find out what real story is. Basically I just wanted the problem fixed. I had the TSB but they didn't care.

that is complete crap. they are the same pads for 4th gen, 5th gen and 2k2. the only difference is the rotors. actually the altima uses the same pads as well, at least back in 95. i cant stand it when service people say theyve changed the part just so they can get out of fixing what needs to be done.

this is what I heard from a nissan serv. rep. he told me that early 5th gen has problem with rotor wrapage is due to the excessive heat generated on the rotor. (doh!) and the cuase is the material of the brake pads. The TSB will replace our early model 5th gen brake pad to a newer one.

but....even after my rotors were cut....pads were changed...the rotors still turn blue......I bet it will warp again anytime soon.

Ahhh... yess... so this explains why my front end has started to shake when braking (started about 500 miles ago, at about 24,500 on my 2000 SE)... F**K... I thought I had left those warped rotor problems behind when I ditched the Ford last fall... Oh well, here we go again..
