Maxima hit... How much to fix this?
My car got hit yesterday on the parking lot of my workplace... The son of b left the scene
How much will it cost to fix this you guys think? I'll have to go get a quote from a bodyshop on Monday, but I'd like to have an idea before then...
I know it's not much but it pisses me off... Body work + paint job on the fender, and I don't know about the bumper. Does it look like a paint job on the bumper will be enough? Or will I need a new one?

The bumper doesn't look too bad. Might be able to buff out most of those scratches.
Doesn't appear that your tail light got hit, so that's good.
The rear quarter panel is a tough call. Since it was hit where the corner of the crease is, it probably can't be pulled out.
Depending on how the body shop wants to fix it (body filler, body panel replacement) I'd say... guessing... $400-800ish?
I'd get more than one estimate. Most body shops want to get as much labor hours as possible to make money, and i'd avoid body shops like Maaco that do crap work and use cheap paint.

well every bit of that can be fixxed...id say that quarter is a 3-4 hour dent....the bumper is maybe a 1 hour repair, and about 2 hours or so for r and i time( remove and install) on random items then maybe 5 paint hours. with paint and body labor costling roughly 42-45 dollars a hour, then paint materials at 26 dollars a hour it would roughly be around...$2230...thats a rough estimate that i see...assuming that there isnt any hidden damage. now thats for a pretty decent shop working on it. With a cheaper shop always expect shortcuts to be made and a crappier job to be done.

Yeah man all these numbers being thrown arouns are possible. The $400 all the way to $2200. My car has been hit a few times while I was at work so I feel your pain. I just stopped fixing them because my exterior is not great anyways. 5 mins at a body shop and they will tell you all the options you have and prices.

I've talked to my insurance and they'll repair, but I'll have to pay a $250 deductible for comprehensive...
I'm thinking more in the neighborhood of $2000 rather than $400... It looks like a small dent, but because of where it is, it's probably gonna be expensive... And I don't want a cheap job done on it so it'll probably be expensive...

in NY that would be considered a collision claim. something hit the car, it wasnt vandalized or an act of nature. before you put in a claim go to a shop that your insurance recommends and get an estimate. i manage a high volume shop(35-40 cars a week) and thats less than 1k in NY.probably more in the 7-800 range doing it the right way. if it does end up being a collision(500 ded) it wont be worth the risk of you insurance going up.

My car got backed into while it was parked (not in car) but luckily I caught the lady and didn't involve my insurance at all...OTOH I used my 'insurance' to pay for a windshield chip repair on my wife's Altima & they basically tried to force me into using Safelite to do the repair which I refused. My insurance 'claimed' they would only pay $XX.00 for repair if I went elsewhere & that I'd be responsible for the rest, so I went with my choice of shop which was I think $9.XX more (maybe less) than Safelite & they've tried jacking my 6 mo. prem. by a couple $ ever since, so beware ins. co. are only your friend until YOU need them! Sucks, but thats my sentiment.

2 full working days of labor and 1 full working day for painting? Parts? What parts? And not for nothing, but how are supplies quantified as an hourly rate? I'm no expert in body repair, but... did you get a WTF reaction when you saw this quote?
No harm in getting a second quote from another shop. And a third from yet another.
Sure does suck to see a fully loaded Polished Ti all bruised up.

Parts are all the molding around the rear window, urethane kit and miscellaneous material they have to use to make the repair.

Well, the guy who hit my car stepped up today and told me it was him. He didn't have time to let me know on Friday because he was late to pick up his kids from school so now it doesn't really matter how much since his insurance will take care of it. I just went to the local Nissan body shop. They've done work on my car in the past and they're pretty good... expensive yes but good. But yeah, when I looked at the quote I was like "WTF is all that?" Paint supplies and part supplies an hourly rate

Yeah, I'm glad he stepped up too... he also stepped up in my esteem by doing this. He drives a 1993 ford F150. His rear bumper is already all beat up, so you wouldn't be able to tell it was him just by looking at the truck... I'm glad he did the right thing...

Still seems like a silly high quote, though.

I work at a body shop and that price is about right depends on the kind of paint and supplies that the shop uses the 15 hours of body labor is tear down and everything that leads up to paint body work priming prep all that fun stuff

If the fender had to be removed, then sure. There's all kinds of issues, like how the fender sheet metal blends right up into the roof through the C-pillar, and the gas inlet, etc. But on a 10 year old car, I'd find someone who would just pull the bumper skin back for access to the damaged area, bend, fill, sand & paint.
All of which is a moot point. I don't doubt your expertise on the estimate, and the OP will have the offender's insurance company pay the bill.

Since the guy stepped up and told me it was him who hit my car, I'm thinking about buying him a case of beer or giving him some cash... Just to thank him for doing the right thing and telling me he did it, when he could have got away with it... I know it sounds weird but I think good behavior should be rewarded in this world... What do u guys think?

I'm glad you sound OK with the guy. You never realize just how much sh*t happens until you have kids.
That price is high. Reminds of the dealer south of us that sold us ours who are just plain thieves. So much so, I get our's serviced at a Chevy dealer. I'm glad you're happy with their work, but I expect the guy's insurance company will be paying standard rates which won't be that quote.

im curious to see what the final geico estimate will be. 1600 seems steep, and thats comming from someone who isnt afraid to charge well to do a good job.
there is no need to pull out the back glass to spray the 1/4. 3m makes a great tape to lift up soft moldings making the paint transition seamless. beside the added cost, opening up the possibility of leaks just seems worthless. if the bodywork came close and the primer would show, then i would pull the glass. that alone would save 200 bucks.
i know youre not paying and it doesnt matter, but geico only pays so much

I got her back from the body shop today. It is a clean job. Not perfect (the bumper/qt panel gap is not even), but considering the location of the dent, i'm pretty happy with the results. It ended up being $1,237 (on the other guy's insurance). I'm glad I'm no longer driving the Dodge Avenger rental, and now back in my Maxima
On a side note, the guy who fixed the car told me when he handed me the keys:
"That's a really nice and clean car you got there man, if you were selling it, I'd buy it from you (...) When I drove it, I sounded like it was turbo'ed"
That's the whistling sound of the spacers...

Thats why no other hands touch my car or my car keys

Well, the whistle with the spacers can only be heard at 1/3 throttle. If you floor it, the whistle disappears. Otherwise yeah, I would have asked him an explanation...
