Never happened to me either... but then again I have leather. There are little "grounding" staps you can buy and all you have to do is attach them to the frame and let them dangle, usually takes care of the shocks.

It happens to me basically everyday , once I get out of the car to shut the door I get shocked and you can actually see the electricity on the tip of my finger. So sometimes I have to use my shoe to push the door

you have some big audio in your trunk? i use to get shocked all the time when i had my kicker L7 and ZX1000.1 amp. turns out my ground wasnt sufficient enough to make a full connection but only enough to make the amp function so all that access negative was stored on the body/frame.Everytime i touched the door i get zapped. Just be careful when u go get gas LOL. Got it solved by adding extra grounding points around the engine bay and fender bolts.

Its Static of course. Where do you live? Is it really dry and very low humidity? When getting out of the car put your hand on the metal frame of your door before you put your foot down on the ground. That way you ground yourself to the car before you touch the ground. You discharge yourself into the chassis of the car. Thats why they say this, and car fires at the gas pumps happen to younger people then older people. Older folks tend to have to grab the frame of the door (the metal section) to help heave themselves out where the younger folks can whip right out with out such help.

Static electricity happens.

I noticed it a lot in the winter around here, but it went away during the summer months, when it was more humid out.

Now that I have a car with leather interior, it doesn't really happen anymore period..
