Buying a replacement IACV, do I buy the entire valve assembly?

I just cleaned my IACV and it did NOT fix my 505 errors and my car still dies when at idle. So I've decided to replace it. Trouble is, when I "cleaned" it, I only pulled the black sensor that is connected via 2 Phillip screws and NOT the entire aluminum valve.

Two questions: 1) If cleaning the IACV, do I need to clean the entire valve or just that black sensor? 2) If I want to try replacing the IACV to solve this issue, do I buy the entire assembly or just the black sensor noted above?

You must replace the entire IACV assembly. That is the only way it is available as far as I know.

How did your IACV replacement go?

I have read about this issue a lot (failed IACV frying the ECU, leading to a slew of expensive-to-fix problems). I would like to be proactive ..... so, at the moment, I am considering three options:
1. Coolant bypass (will prevent problems caused by corrosion, but not those caused by stuck/failed IACV motor)
2. Fusing the IACV (probably the best but most difficult solution; there are suggestions on one of the other threads).
3. Replacing the IACV (this alternative is only as good as the quality of the new part).

My car is 2000 Max SE. Do I have to remove the Throttle Body to get to the IACV?
Any other comments?

Thanks in advance!
