Radiator Issues

I have a 5.5 generation with about 141k miles on it and upon taking it in for a routine oil change, they pointed this out. My questions is do I need to get a whole new radiator and what are people's opinions on using the radiator stop leak products. I have a guy that does great radiator work and I will probably just order the part online (I never buy parts through mechanics because I believe it is a state law somewhere that they have to rape you with a sandpaper condom).

The pictures are here

I haven't done much research but are these good quality radiators? Also is this a job that can be done by someone with decent tech skills? I'll look for a DIY and try and figure out if it is possible. I've found some other ones online for around $60 shipped what makes this one so much better?

Ya I'm going to go ahead and save myself $60 and order a TYC. From what I have read, they are made by KOYO and have a very similar build quality. I can get one shipped to my house for $60. Thank you for all your help.

Will the one's that say automatic transmission also work for a manual transmission? I figure there is just a spot for the ATC hookup that doesn't need to be touched for the manuals.

LOL! But you forgot to tell him to then only drive in sub-zero weather.

Get a Mishimoto and add a universal trans fluid cooler. If you're on a budget, get the one suggested above.

A stop leak will only be a temporary bandaid for you, because once the gasket goes the way yours did, it will only keep opening up more, so all you would be doing is risking plugging somethin up in the engine internals.

NO! go to Amazon.com. I just got my for $62 shipped. It used to be cheaper $49 last Dec. It's sold by TYC but you'll receive a KOYORAD. Many other online vendors are selling between $70-$83 bucks.

RockAuto.com also has some good prices, and have always shipped fast for me. Might not be as cheap as x6runner found on Amazon tho. Definitely needs to be replaced, a stop leak is not going to help here, damage is too great. If you need one right away check with Napa or whatever local auto parts store is in your area. I use O'Reily's here in Oregon.
