Power Steering Hose to Rack

Hey Guys,
New to the forum and I have run into a problem. I did a search and can't seem to find anything. I got a leak in my power steering pressure hose, like everyone else and went to remove it, but when I did I crushed the copper pipe (right after the 14mm bolt/nut) that from what I can tell/read goes to the rack. I eventually got the nut off, but I had to use a pipe cutter to cut it off clearn. Do you guys have any options on what I might do at this point? I'm hoping this isn't like some huge major deal, but it's looking like it is. Can they put a new connector on there or am I going to have to replace the whole copper hose to the rack and if so/ do we have a write up on this/how hard is it going to be? I know you guys probably have the answers. Thanks so much in advance.

Below, is a picture from courtesyparts.com. I replaced the power steering hose. I broke the end of pipe 49713 A. If you follow that pipe back up to where it connects to the pressure hose, I broke off the flare nut that screws into the pressure hose. So I purchased part 49713 A from Nissan yesterday, they said it would be here Friday. It looks like it may be a bear to get to though. Any thoughts on how I may get to it or replace it? The other end apparently goes into the rack from what I can tell.

You could splice in a short piece of pipe, but you would need a flairing tool to make the connection on the ends and the appropriate fittings. Getting to it... well. It would be similiar to if you were going to replace to entire line.

Would a splice work? I didn't know, since it's under a lot of pressure if it would hold? Remember it is like a copper pipe. The flaring wouldn't be hard, I can rent a flaring kit. The other problem is the nut at the end that goes into the pressure hose at the top. It's fouled up and won't go back in. I already have the new 49713 line ordered, it just looks like a pain to get access to. Is there a write up on how to change the rack or something to that effect. That would help me understand how to get in there to it. I was just hoping I didn't have to remove the steering column or something crazy like that.

Sorry but I can't imagine how you broke that hose. I just replaced my HP hose and aside from still getting a bit of "whirring" (not using an OEM hose will cause this) it went in smooth. If you ordered the hose get your car on a lift or as high as you can get it on stands and take your time replacing it. I don't thing I have seen a DIY on it.

Yeah, I know. it was just from trying to get the 14mm nut loose. I was pulling too hard on it and it bent/crushed the pipe. Just being stupid and trying to force stuff. My stepdad came over and used a little butane torch to heat up the pressure switch and it popped right loose. Is this a trick people just pick up over the years? It really sucks. I just don't think this pipe is going to be easy to get too, it looks like it involves taking off the control arms and a bunch of other stuff possibly, but I guess it's that or have it towed to a mechanic.

NO, heat causes the metal to expand thus making it easier to remove .

I used heat to remove the sensor off of the old hose and it came out like butter
