Oh man! help please! Replaced front camshaft sensor - due to hard starting
now will not turn starter. Sounds like starter is locked!?!
Slight whirring from maybe starter? Is there a relearn or something

Unrelated. Sounds like the starter pinion is messed up in some way. Either your missing teeth on the flexplate, have a shattered pinion, the pinion spring is broken or the teeth have been stripped off the pinion.

In all cases you need to pull the starter to investigate.

Thanks- after an hour I used the old hit the starter with a hammer trick just as a last ditch resort. It started. Same rough starting (cranking a few sec. then mercifully starting). What a relief. Perhaps it was the starter all along. Odd it happened after replacing the crankshaft position sensor (the one by the oil filter) Will replace starter tomorrow.
