looking to sell my Maxima.

This is not a for sale ad but a feeler. So I've had my maxima for 10 years and it's been a great car. However, last November it went through a windstorm and my insurance company salvaged it. They paid me out and I repurchased it because I know the car and it's stil a great car. I changed the oil every 3k miles with Mobil 1 since day 1.

The car is outfitted with Tokiko Illuminas, H-Tech Springs, Stillen sways and a strut tower brace, Warpspeed Subframe connectors, electronic grounding kit, brand new Optima yellow top, Brand new Hankook V12's on 18 3 piece BBS RS2 wheels, brand new alternator, brand new air conditioner compressor, new belts, Extreme Dynamat from front to rear on both inner and outer walls. I spent about $600 on material, back in the day. The mechanics of the car are perfect. Cosmetic damages include a dent on the c pillar and a few small divots on the roof and trunk lid. The hood also has a few dents from stuff falling on it during the storm. There is no damage from bumping another car.

Wondering what something like this is worth and if anyone is interested?

These pics were taken the morning after the storm. The car usually isn't that dirty. The rear window was replaced soon after. Pm me offers. This thread will probably be moved or closed doe to posting in the wrong section but whatever, the mods will do what they have to do. I'll repost in the classifieds as soon as I know a price and it officially goes up for sale.

I can't remember but they cost somewhere around $100 for the set. They could be Magnaflow, but I can't be sure.

Price it out for your conditions and your market. You won't get any $ back from your mods.

The way others will see it is that this car is worth 3-5k range if that... Obviously its more than though....its just that a salvage title scares almost everybody away.. I had 2003 maxima with rebuilt title about 2 years ago with 90k on the dash...and I sold that for 3500... It was in really good condition too.... and usually nobody cares what the history of the car is if its salvage... They just assume that, that car is junk.... but that is usually not the case..

It's not so much that people assume the car is junk, it's just that with a branded title comes a value that is much less than the same car with a clean title. I bought a 2003 Mazda P5 for my wife with 105K on it with the factory chrome 16's, black leather, 6CD, moonroof, and the sportshift Auto for 4 thousand. That's half of what it's worth because it had a salvage title. Didn't scare me off though because the car was extremely clean and my mechanic and I couldn't find bugger all wrong with it. If the car has a salvage title, you just need to expect to pay (or sell) the car for half of book value. Many banks will even loan on a salvage title car if it falls in that 50% of book range.

I think you can still get good money out of a car with a salvage title, but it will take longer. First, why does it have a salvage title? Do you have details on everything? One of the main concerns about a salvage title is that the car will not perform as well in a crash. So the buyer will want to know that it was properly repaired with factory parts, and have the records of the repair to look at. Additionally, it will be more difficult for the buyer to sell the car in the future, so you should expect to get 10-25% less than a car with a clean title.

Also, make sure the rest of the car is in good shape - clean fluids, washed, waxed, no SES light, etc. Have any service records for the car ready to give to the buyer. Have a CarFax to show the buyer and make it easy for the buyer to take it to the mechanic of the buyer's choice for a pre-purchase inspection.

Also, be upfront about the condition of the title. When I purchased my last car, over 50% of the cars I called on had a salvage title and these people did not state this in the advertisement. The cars were also priced the same as cars with a clean title! A salvage title is not worth the same amount, and so it is best to be upfront and explain why it has the salvage title. Sure it will take longer to sell, but you should find a good buyer. A windstorm is really not that big of an issue, so I think you should be fine.

Too expensive for the insurance company to fix so damage remains. It was in a wind storm and stuff hit the body. That's all. Looking to get $2,000 for it.

From the pictures you posted, the body damage doesn't look that bad. Sounds like the insurance company you have is just giving you the runaround on that. I've had cars with much worse body damage get fixed. Other than the dent I see on the driver side C pillar, and the broken rear glass, it's not that bad. That dent can easily be fixed with body filler.

Junkyards also can be your best friend. I bought a hood, grill, bumper, and a fender for my mom's Blazer for around $400.

I take my car's to the most expensive body shops in the state. My insurance company didn't give me the runaround, they did me a favor by paying me $6,000 for my car. I was going to sell the car to my buddy for his kid for $3,000 before the windstorm hit it. I received $6,000 from my insurance company and then repurchased the car back from them at salvage auction price.

At this point, I just need to get rid of the car to make room for a new addition. There is no parking in my neighborhood at night so I need to parking space for another car.

After I re-took possession of the car, I took it to the DMV to get a new title. They made me jump through several hoops including a smog and safety test. I also had to do a lamp test on it to make sure all the bulbs and electrical worked properly. I then paid the DMV $100 extra to get a salvage title for the car. I was issued brand new plates and it is once again street legal. There are a bunch of other steps involved to get the salvage title removed which for me it isn't worth it.

So the car is registered, plated and 100% street legal. I already did all the work.
