AC is warm

It has had a new Compressor/Clutch about 8 months ago.
Now the weather is warm again (it was temp warm a few months ago and it blew cold) I turn on the AC and its blowing warm/ambient air through the car. I topped up and the pressure seems OK. Whats my next step ?

The heating works perfect though, got hot pretty quickly.

search here on the forum... there is a post about doing a check on the actual temperature control unit...
do you have the manual unit or the auto?

When the compressor was changed, did you also change the expansion valve, receiver/drier, and condenser? The condenser isn't as big a deal as the expansion valve and receiver, but it's usually a good idea to change it as well all at the same time.

If you didn't change them you could have a leak at one of the points or possibly a blocked A/C line.

LOL. Bro take the car to a professional and have them diagnose it. Obviously they have to hook it up to a machine to determine the issue

how did you know you needed a compressor in the first place? My wife's car did not have AC and we thought it was compressor because its an older car, but hooked up the AC line meter and there was no coolant....bought a $30 bottle of coolant and refilled AC....its now ICE COLD!

Run the self diagnostic on the control panel, it doesn't cost you anything. The car does not have to be running, just the ignition turned on. One of the tests takes a little bit of time, so don't panic thinking something is hung up.

The test is in the FSM, page HA-37.

If you don't have a FSM, download one from here"

I think the clutch broke on it or something like that. I have already recharged the AC. It does blow hot when I turn it hot and when I turn it to cold its just ambient air. The pressure of the AC is a little on the high side so I know its full.

Sounds like a clutch or an obstruction. Easy way to check is to turn the AC on full with the car running and look at the outside of the pulley on the compressor. If the center is turning then the clutch is working properly. If it fails to turn itself, then the clutch is out. Hopefully, I worded that so you can know what I'm trying to say. If not, let me know, and I'll try to draw something up or take a video from my car or something.

Hope that helps.

How are you measuring the pressures in the system? Are you looking at both the high and low sides? Is the compressor running when your looking at system pressures? Which pressure is high and how high is it? Low side to high, high side to high? How did you "top up" the system, more importantly what did you use to do that?

An R134 charge needs to have the correct system pressures, which are also temperature dependent. After a compressor replacement, the system should have been evacuated and charged from a vacuum state BY WEIGHT. You need the correct A/C machine to accomplish this. If the system was simply charged with an off the shelve can equipped with an idiot gauge on a very cool day, chances are it's overcharged on a hot day and the refrigerant isn't condensing enough to turn into liquid before it goes through the expansion valve.

Have somebody with the proper equipment look at the system.

The low side pressure is on high like i said, even when bleed the low pressure off it stays on high.

The compressor clutch is on as i turn the car on, even with AC off. Even with key on engine off the compressor activates.

I ended up taking it to me mechanic to have the low and high side tested and low was high and high was low so I went and bought an expansion valve.

I installed it last night myself, took about an hour to do. The hardest part was big hands in a tight place but I got it done. $30 later and I have cold air.

Thanks to everyone for the help.
