I read you can test the power window motor by using jumper wires, but which pins do i touch? Its a 6 pin connector, I would assume the pins connecting to the black and red wires, my electronics knowledge leaves much to be desired.

BTW, huge help from the forum search function getting that motor and regulator out, frustrating at the start but after I saw how it all comes apart piece of cake, feel like an expert on the matter now!! (Except for my question...)

 

What door are you working on? I guess that it is not the driver's door when you say 6 pin connector. The wires that go the the motor are the solid blue and solid green, not the red and black. Put 12 volts one one wire and ground on the other and the motor runs in one direction. Reverse the connections and the motor runs in the other direction. And for what it's worth, the window stitches in the 3 doors other than the driver's door are the same, so you can borrow one to test with.

The driver's door is also the solid blue and solid green color wires, but it is not a 6 pin connector, it is a 16 pin connector.

 

Thanks for that ^^ It is the drivers side front door, the connector I was referring to was the one coming off the motor. Poor description on my part.

I ended up fixing it by accident! I was going to just order a new motor and regulator for it tonight so I decided to tear this motor apart to see how it works. Well in doing so I discovered a tab in the cylindrical tower part of the motor was missing a contact, so I bent in that tab so it would touch the screw drive wound wires. Threw it in there and it worked!! I cleaned and lubed up the regulator and viola, works smooth and silky, must be my lucky day

 

No, a mechanic fixes things instead of just replacing parts until it works. Congrats!
