Suggestions on a rear bumper?
Suggestions on a rear bumper?
I bought my '03 before deployment and the vehicle was hit in a parking lot and now has some damage. I believe a pickup with a receiver hitch.
What are some suggestions on where to get a replacement(eBay or another online source), as well as would any year for the 5th generation work with my 5.5?
Can I buy it painted the stock color or just paint-ready with the primer?
Looking forward to getting back home and fixing this next month.
As always, thank you for the help.

Try junkyards in your area.
If you buy a new replacement, it will not be painted.
And why would you leave your car in a parking lot while on deployment? I would have left it with a trustworthy friend or a relative.

I was just looking for a front bumper recently cause mine has a bunch of rock chips and damaged paint cause of bugs.
Ebay or Amazon is your best bet.
Ebay has primered aftermarket replacements for $90 shipped, and factory color painted for $295 shipped, which isn't bad.
You'll have to consider a good body shop will match the color they're painting to the color of the car, not what color the car was when it was new. If you buy the one that comes painted, there is a chance it will be a slight difference in color matching.
I've called around and gotten quotes from national chains, as well as mom'n'pops autobody shops about painting the new primered bumper with prices ranging from $300 to $135.
The $135 dollar quote was from a local guy, who was cheaper than Maaco (by $75) and does superb work. He matched a 10 year old three stage pearl on my old maxima flawlessly. So price does not always indicate quality. Go ask some of your trusted auto-part store employees, chances are someone will know the scoop on the area.
Good luck!

when i ran over my neighbors dog(thats a whole 'nother story) in my old 4th gen, it looked like someone threw a hand grenade in my grill. i got the bumper from a nationwide chain called certifit ( http://www.certifit.com/Default.aspx? ) and i want to say it was like $50. then i took it to the local custom chopper shop and they painted it for $100.
Sounds good everyone, I'll give them sources a try.
Thanks.

Agreed. The body shop I went to after I got rear ended used an after market rear bumper. The fitment along the side of the car by the wheel well isn't perfect, but you can't tell unless you're really looking for it. You also may have to drill a hole for your splash guards; the bumper I got was missing the bottom bolt hole for the splash guards on both sides. I can take pictures if you'd like OP.
