Best Mod For The Buck

Looking to add a Mod to my 02' VQ35DE, I'm pretty satisfied with my suspension and tires so I won't need that. Also anything that's gonna make it sound like a ricer I don't want. I can spend up to $1000 maximum but wouldn't mind a cheaper range either.

Search for "GAB intake mod", cheap and effective.

Rear sway bar (suspension mod, but one of the better bang-for-your-buck mods)

y-pipe

^---all good choices. And you can prolly do all 3 for under your $1000 limit

Everyone says y-pipe but they are not realizing you have an 02.

I suggest the 5pc spacer set. It sounds like you want HP. So it is reallu between headers and spacers....or both.

As long as you keep the stock catback, headers and y-pipe will not add alot of noise, just a slight growl.

GAB is noted as a good mod, but damages stock intake if that's an issue for you.
You can also simply remove intake box and snorkel then add a filter. Another option is to rotate your battery and angle a cone filter (make sure a dry flow) toward the front/ behind the headlight.

Intake spacers and BOP (block off plate) are other great intake mods.

I'll leave it for you to search about what each of these mods do, hp, sound, difficulty of install, and cost.

NWP 5 piece spacer kit and their block off plate.

Deleting the resonator will free up a few hp as well for cheap.

I have already made a GAB, The only reason I haven't done an intake yet like a pop charger or something like you've got is because I was afraid of getting codes. Don't other intakes eliminate a sensor or something causing a code to pop up?

No but you might as well stick with the GAB.

One mod that I don't believe anyone has mentioned is gutting the pre-cats. There are threads on that for the OP to do research on.

OBX V2's or Cattman?

I've been reading that there are some modifications that need to be done while installing the OBX headers where the cattman do not need these adjustments? I don't have a welder, just basic tools.

These were some of the things that were mentioned when installing the OBX.
Wire extending and the welding work for the the o2 sensor
bung and High flow cat.

Do the new OBX v2's have the same problem with grinding the motor mounts to get them to fit the 3.5 max?

I found the OBX headers here but I'm not sure if these are the V1's or v2's? I will give them a call on monday.

I also found this, but its big price difference. I wonder why such a difference?

Yes, the ones you posted are V2s. 02-03 w/equal length y pipe (the loop) are V2s.

I wouldn't pay more than $400 shipped. I'd call and make sure they are in stock before you buy them though.

yes I'm going to call them tomorrow.

Why would these OBX headers cost $250 more than the other two websites listed above? Any idea? http://www.obxracingsports.com/products.php?pk=2000

Still trying to fugure out if the V2's have the same problem the old ones had with the headers not fitting and then having to grind down the motor mounts, which I don't want to do.

They just marked the price up to make a quick buck off someone that didn't search around.
I've installed two sets in the past 6 months or so, both needed to grind the crossmember and they both cleared the rear motor mount.
