Supercharger w/ auto trans question

So lately ive been thinking about supercharging my 2001 20th anniversary, in the same thought process i was thinking about tranny cooling and what not. So my question is if I were to upgrade my automatic transmission cooling system how would it hold up with a supercharger. I would swap in a manual tranny but its not a necessity at the moment since its a perfectly functioning trans. I want to make this car a bit more fun also i want to be able to spank on g35's and keep up with the 37's

Im not knowledgeable enough on the 5th gen SC options but I would at least think about a VB upgrade. Tranny coolers don't drastically cool the tranny fluid as advertised and really the stock cooler within the radiator probably does just as good. I put one on because I upgraded my rad and they only had performance rads for a M/T and so I had to put on an aux cooler

Well...despite what ShocknAwe says a VB mod will only increase the temperature of your transmission which is why people put in coolers when they get a VB mod.

The VB mod will help with shifting and providing some durability, but you'll need to add on a tranny cooler. Do some searching on VB mod and see what size tranny coolers people are using. You want to be sure to size it right.

VB stands for valvebody. Basically a shop with expertise will modify the valvebody of the transmission for quicker/stronger shifting. Typically they are modified in stages where each progressive stage is a harder shift, but heats up the transmission fluid to a higher temperature.

I had a VB mod installed on my 2K Maxima years and years ago. I don't even remember the size tranny cooler I use, or the vendor I went to for the VB mod. These days I'm not sure what the VB mod market looks like.

Good luck, but check out the turbo/supercharger forum as someone else suggested.

All you need is a tranny cooler and the VB mod, and your auto tranny will hold up just fine.

so I did some digging around and found that stillen has a vb kit, but I saw mixed reviews which is always going to happen but after that i went on their site to see if they sold it from there and its not listed maybe i have to call in or simply find another manufacturer. im liking the hp #'s i see over the net espeically with this one i was really impressed cause my car has 172k on the clock and this one has 163k but it was a few years back

Hang on I thought the valvebody mod was the drop resistor change or something. The valve body people are speaking about here is the Trans-Go kits. They change the springs and other internals in the control valve assembly (valve body) to allow harsher 1-2 shifts. 2-3 is not as harsh as the 1-2 but still more noticeable versus stock. The theory behind that is the luxury feel of the soft shifts comes from the trans holding line pressure a second or two to swap gears. The trans-go kit eliminates that 'lag' so it’s literally a SLAM into 2nd gear. You will probably need to look at your motor/trans mounts if you go for the trans-go kit. I believe people go with the urethane mounts to soak up some of that harsh shift shock.
