Going to have the heads rebuilt someday in the near future

Did a compression test on my 2000 SE and compression was good and I am burning oil like crazy so I am going to pull the heads and have them rebuilt. What are some of the things I can have them do to get some modest power gains with out going crazy cost wise. I figure since I am going to have them off and in a machine shop might as well have them do something extra to them. Just want to know what to ask for and not sound like an idiot.

I know about Port and Polish but need to know what they can do without having to worry about tuning the computer so I thought this would be a good place to start.

any advise would be great.

thanks

Joe

Just a basic port & polish, 3-way valve seats, some good honeycomb springs and retainers and lightweight valves. Not sure if you can get regrind cams for this car of not just get you a decent lift cam

Because I dont really want to mess with computers or transmissions or having to do the whole timing to get it to work with out the ecu. Then I would most likely have another oil burner too. I think i would rather pull the heads off a car then swap engines, i thought about swapping another 3.0 in but might as well get the top end redone and know what i have, I like the 3.0 and its fine for me.

I have only called one place and they quoted $500-700 for the pair to be redone, does that sound reasonable and what would those extras prob cost roughly?
I am going to call around tomorrow and get a few more quotes.

Also what are some things that I should do while I have it all apart? Water pump? Anything with the timing chain need to be done?

Anything else?
