P1706 PNP Switch, ECM terminal #44 only 4.8 V
Hello,
I got the p1706 code on my 2001 maxima (neutral position switch). I disconnected the switch at the harness. I measured the voltage on ECM terminal 44. It is supposed to be battery voltage but is only 4.8V.
Has anyone seen this before? I am wondering if the issue is the ECM and not the PNP switch since it is not getting the proper voltage.
Look at the EC manual page 600 to see what I am talking about. Any thoughts

The voltage reading is interesting. I would expect to see something like 9 volts instead of 12. Your reading is something to consider.
Are you measuring at the ECM itself or the wire harness plug that goes on the switch? Measuring on the ECM is real easy to be on the wrong pin.
Did you measure continuity on the neutral position switch with the trans in neutral? I'd do this first because a switch is more likely to fail then the ECM.

Hi Dennis. I measured the voltage on the harness. I didn't check the switch because I assumed it was bad. I have gotten the code in the past. i would generally reset and it would go away for months but now it would come back after a few days.
