Transmission questions

I recently brought my 02 auto in and my mechanic said to check some other things before pulling the trigger on a full tranny swap.

I've been searching for days and I found that a lot of the times the electronics go wrong in the tranny. What should the car feel like when these things don't work properly? Torque converter, shift selenoids, valve body and could it even be the drop resistor switch?

Problem with the car is, the car will not upshift and when it does it revs out to nearly redline and clunks into next gear.

Any ideas before I pull the trigger on the tranny swap?

Call ack up get that i35 trans its lsd.or you can do the transgo kit and the $84 sol tsb pack from nissan. Many ways for a trans to feel when going bad.describe yours!

In accleration the RPM will keep going until near redline until it will upshift. This is 1-2. If I want to shift earlier I have to let off and it feels like it slips until it catches that gear and when it does there's a clunk.

I haven't really got up to the 2-3 shift because I drive the car VERY slow.

I might consider hitting up aakshun but I found some local trannys at a junk yard.

Sounds like clutch plates are worn out. Sometimes very low fluid would cause this issue.

My fluid is VERY dark I don't recall finding a maintenance record for it being changed recently... Should I start by flushing and putting new fluid in?

Dont flush it, just do a drain and fill.....Our tranny's do not like flushes, for the most part causes more issues.

15-25% throttle it will keep revving til nearly redline then go into next gear. Rough shift
WOT it will hit the limiter.

I haven't attempted to manually shift it through the gears because I know it will enough to let off and let it upshift when local driving

Time for a trans sorry bro its the bands worn. If it was the balloon 1-2 shift you can fix that woth a shift kit for awhile

how can u say your 1-2 shift should be between 15 and 18 mph, doesnt it vary widley depending on throttle? i can tap the gas in a parking lot and not even hit 10(kms) and it shifts to 2nd. it doesnt bother me until i wanna boot it and get a "big ol" uncomfortable downshift slamming take off. lots of other carsive driven doing the same thing they stay in first, mine upshifts quickly but i assumed it was normal for this tranny

Do some research.there is a baseline mph/rpm shift standard for % of throttle position.just like there is a baseline for rpm @ speed like on my 03 @ 70mph i sit @ 2750rpm in fact i learned something last weekend when i took my 97 max cluster out there is a calibration base stamped on the back of the speedo.
