Optimum shift points
Optimum shift points
Hi all,
Finally got my 2k2 SE 6 spd broken in and I've been having lots of fun.
I have noticed some large gearing differences, however, relative to my 5 spd. In my 6-spd, if I shift at redline the engine only drops down to 5000 rpm, which mean each gear only "covers" 1500 rpm.
In my 5 spd, shifting at redline drops the engine down to 4000 rpm, which is the torque peak. Also, in the 5 spd, redline is the HP peak.
So my question is this; with the 6-spd, should I still be going all the way to redline for the best acceleration? If not, at what RPM should I be shifting?
