what does knocking sound, feel, and smell like?

You won't even know unless it knocking REALLY bad. 90% of the time, the ecu detects it and retards the timing back before you hear it.

But if it's bad, it will sound like "knocking". No feel or smell

 

It should faintly sound like a diesel; however, your knock sensor should have picked that up, adjusted your timing and it should sound fine...Loss of performance..but sound fine

I have also had a problem with what sounds like knocking. I'm not sure what the hell it is. I thought it was just my car - All I know is that it robs all power and I can't make it do it when I want so I can't take it in for a look.

 

with my car, it depends upon the gas station. The same premium grade gas can be mixed up at one station and can be pure at another. Go figure.
