Disable/bypass PCV?

Hey everyone,

Is there a safe way of totally disabling the PCV? I understand its there for a reason, but I really don't want it anymore.

Would I need to vent both valve covers?

My car runs so much cooler with no pcv and runs so much stronger, If there is a way to totally bypass it, I would greatly appreciate any methods thanks

Would taking both valve covers and venting to atmosphere work? I was thinking of attaching heater hose or whatever to each VC and then just running the hose to the bottom of the car

-Would this be sufficient ventilation? I drive hardcore and like to go 100+, I do not want to blow anything up

The way my engine runs without the pcv is impressive and I do not ever want to go back

Then you should probably just take both valve covers right off, there's really no good way to vent these valve covers if you drive it hard unfortunately.

two breathers still wont do the job? Has this been confirmed?

I may need to do some serious catch cans. The oil in my manifold was disgusting when i modded the vias. I cant imagine what damage the residue does over time. It deff gets caked on in there and leads to sludge

i no longer like pcv systems from what i have learned

OMFG and guess what i found out!! When i removed my pcv valve there was no freaking grommet!! it wasnt even air tight.

So i did some research and nissan stopped selling the gasket with the PCV. you actually need to buy the gasket separate.

I think I have solved the mysterious 3.5 oil burner problem! that linked with a bad oil cap, oil cooler gasket, and upper and lower oil pan.

I am replacing all of those seals very soon.

Yah IIRC a couple guys did some Datalogging with MAP sensors installed int he Crankcase and the only way to get the pressures low enough at high load/RPM is to remove the covers completely.

That's what I'd do if you're driving it hard to save the engine.

OP, most people find out when they delete the PCV that their engine suffers from bad vacuum pressure.
A quick and easy mod is a hood scoop/made functional, or if you get some hood pins and mount them high up so the hood is open some, and lets more air in.

This is an all around good mod for an easy 10-15 WHP gain; and almost a must for what your doing.

Pictures please!

Is this based on a scientific manor in testing?

Think like this, see on the lfa how the hood doesn't quite meet with the front end?? This isn't shotty workmanship but a functional air intake

A breather has its place but must be done right or else you suck in unmetered air and run the risk of blowing numerous seals. I have never heard of anyone saying they don't like a PCV system....its actually pretty ingenious. The only improvement you can make upon it is catching the oil blow-by in some way so it doesn't get into your intake tract and numerous methods claim to do that. Do your own research and if you want my advice, there is no point unless you are boosted. Unless of course you drive a Honda

It looks like if the OP just trims off 2-3 inches off the front of his hood, it would work just as well, if not better than the hood pins extension.

Yeah I had heard (from topgear) that they did it like the vayron, just to prove that they could, and it is more of a pr stunt than anything else, still, I'd give it the sex

I wasn't even making fun of you yet, I was just trying to show you an idea on an "upgrade" you had an idea for...

I wasn't gonna start making fun of you until you said S&A was wrong, which is/was still going to happen if this thread follows the pattern of all your other threads...

Congratulations! This will de-engineer your car to 1950's standards. Those cars had a "road pipe" that was a metal pipe that stuck down into the air stream beneath the car and sucked crankcase fumes out. Road pipes were replaced by the PCV system.

You can also devolve you car further to 1910 standards by removing the starter and using a hand crank. Removing the starter gets rid of 50 pounds or so and the increased performance from the reduced weight would improve acceleration, giving you the equivalent of having added 10 -15 horsepower.

Drill 4" holes in the covers and route some of that left over dryer duct thru your fenders for air!

Pffftt...weaksauce. He should remove his entire front end...who needs those pesky fenders, hood, subframe, etc. We know all of that is just weighing the car down. Stupid Nissan tacking on all these extra parts that do nothing but restrict performance.
