111 octane gasoline..
I recently found a shell station out in the country dirt roads that had 111 octane.. I was afraid it was all ethanol so I stayed away from it and got 93 octane instead..
Is 111 octane safe for maximas? Advantages? Disadvantages?

You will actually have a worse performance, since the higher octane has a higher detonation/burning point. So the effect in your car will be as if you retarded the timing. In other words, unless you raise the engine compression, you will just be throwing money away

There's no point in having that high octane unless you're building a Nascar spec race engine or other similar racing engine, or going to cram 50psi of boost.
Hmmm... I'd like to see a VQ hit 50psi and then watch the aftermath. That should end in a spectacular finish.

I'm not sure if premium octane is more a state by state thing or a gas station thing. In TN you can typically only find 87/90/92. There are several stations though you can get 93. Near Bristol you can get the race stuff, 108 is the highest as I recall.
I know all fuel that stations use comes from the same place, local distribution plants. They pipe in 87 and premium and just add specific markers and ethinal percentages as determined by each "brand." So, makes me wonder, do the stations that serve 92 add just a tad of 87 to 93 premium to get 92? I know that's how they make 90.
Either way, if car has good maintenance and several mods including advanced timing, then maybe mixing 5 gallons of 108 or 111 to no less than a quarter tank should be fine, but you still cannot expect any significant hp gains.

In canada, sir. its available at 4/5 petro canada stations and costs me about $1.40 a liter... how much does this 100+ octane go for anyway?

how high are you over sea level? I think michigan is pretty flat but remember altitude has a big effect on compression and what not.
