Rusted/Welded Radiator Support.

Well I took pics to see what you guys think about this, Do you guys thinks its safe for a few more months or should i park it and not risk it. I dont have the Money to do the job quite yet & I don't want a cheap ebay one. cars from Louisiana but is now in Texas i pressure washed everything hoping to get SALT off the rusted spots but someone WELDED a plate across it, should i primer it at least with rust oleoum ? Im asking because i hear a poping noise and not sure if its a bad motor mount or the radiator support bout to let go and drop motor.

Although it's pretty ugly, I would still drive it in it's current condition. You are still jscking it up @ the spot in question.

Yea, Lol that wasnt too smart...I think im gonna sand it down and weld it a little better then primer it up and spray under coating on it. ill Have it replaced next month or two but i hear a popping and idk if its from that or not.

IMO leave it or treat the rust. don't sand or grind at it...it'll just expose more metal and leads to more rusting..faster.

3- 1/4"x3"x36 flat steel stock
2- Grade 8.8 14mm Stainless Steel tall Nuts and Washers
1- Can expanding Foam
2- Cans 3m Undercoating(pep boys)
1- Can Eastwood Anti Rust(Eastwood.com)
1- 1lb pack of E7014 3/32" welding rods(just incase)
I totally boxed the lower section and welded in 'H' supports internally.this will outlast the car and its not going to rust and its solid!

Can you expand on it? I would like to learn. I already paid to have this fixed but I am really curious as how you did it.

Its actually 24" section i replaced thats not pain either after all the weldind and drilling was done i rust proofed the inside then filled with expanding foam then coated the outside with rust proof and then coated it with like 5 coats of rubberized undercoating

as long as the damage is not THAT bad you should be ok on the patch. if there's nothing there and the rust is growing (basically your x member is no longer connected) then you might want to have a new lower radiator support put in.

like cjandura when i do replace the lower support all welds are primed with well through primer and all the bare metal are primed and under coated.
