rear main seal

i was just doing my rear main seal and it seams like the one i took out was better than the one i got from nissan. the one that i took out seems to be deeper and holds the spring better.

im starting to feel like maybe i should have left it in, wasnt leaking either.

it took a few tries to get the new one on but i still have my doubts...

ive always made it a habbit of doing rear main seals with a clutch.

the leak was comming from the oil pan crescent gasket.

my car has a lil over 170,000 miles so i thought it would be a good idea to do it...

the new rear main ended up leaking out. i drove the car for 4 days looking under the car everytime i park to check for leaks. on the on the morning of the 5th day when i get back from the store there was a puddle under the car. im guessing nisan changed there supplier cause the old RMS that i took of the car had a black seal with a thicker lip to hold the spring in place. the new one is brown and kinda flimsy. i decided to go with a non oem RMS.
