5spd transmission help!!!

A little bit of background. I have a boosted 3.0,5spd. I recently disintegrated my third gear, or that was the term used by my mechanic friend. I picked up recently-rebuilt transmission locally(from a 4th gen), and swapped them out myself. I noticed there's a small transmission leak coming from this little valve on top of the tranny. Not sure what it is. Can anyone chime in?

hard to tell from the pic but it looks like it is the vent for the tranny, you should have a hose attached to it that loops up and then back down again forming a "U" and then venting to atmosphere. The other possiblility is that the tranny fluid level is high and some of it is making its way to the vent tube.

That pic is kind of useless, can you get a better one with a arrow pointing to the leak

This would be my guess. I'd show you what it looks like connected but my transmission is on the floor. That vent hose has been getting in my way for two days though so I thought I'd shoot you a picture. It just connects there and goes up about a foot and then curves back down. Held upright by a little tie connected to a bracket. It just vents to atmosphere.

Makes sense cause when i filled up the tranny with gear oil it was jacked up extremely high. I was just concerned i wasnt getting that fluid where it needed to go, but it seems like its just supposed to vent. Thanks to all who gave input and those that took time to say dumb ish.

ahhh fd3drew is right I think.

Your vent hose is below the transmission fluid level, causing it to leak.

You need to raise that 'ish up dude. If that's what it is, anyways.

he's right, it's the trans vent and it's supposed to have a hose on it. overfill could cause a little fluid to come out.
