Wobble when on the brakes

Well my car (02) has started violently shaking when im on the brakes, even when im driving (60) or so and let off the gas i feel slop in the front end. I checked the pass side when and shaking it at the 3-9 it has slop, but at the 12-6 position it is tight. On the drivers side at 3-9 the slop is different, the whole assembly moves like someone is slighly turning the wheel, but there is no slop from the wheel itself..anyone have any ideas what needs to be replaced?

3-9 slop could be bad tie rods

Jack up each front tire seperate making sure the other wheel is still on the ground and grab ahold of the tire and move it left and right and see if there is any play from the tie rods if there in good shape it shouldn't much at all also take a look at your front control arm bushings.

Also if your front brakes are warped you will feel a shutter in the front also when braking worse if your front steering components are warn.

It sounds as if you may have bad wheel bearing and possibly hub. I had to replace my passengers side wheel bearing / hub a while back. When I had the car off the ground, the whole wheel assembly could be moved around similar to what it sounds like for your drivers side. When I removed the wheel, the axle nut wasn't really even hand tight. My hub was worn down and had to be replaced as well.

The symptoms that occurred while I was driving were some extra noise when moving (sounded a little like the wind noise if you were flying in an airplane), and occasional minor vibration. The last day or two before I replaced the bearing / hub I was also hearing an occasion moaning sound when coming to a complete stop. This was caused by the wheel being forced to move when the brakes were applied since the disc was also wallowing around with the wheel assembly.

I was shocked at how loose the wheel assembly was before the replacement. Good luck.

It could be a ball joint(control arm), a tie rod or a wheel bearing. Have someone shake it at 9 and 3 and look at your ball joint and tie rod. On our nissans you can see ball joint movement with the 9-3 movement. I see it all the time at work. If those are bad its kind of hard to tell if your wheel bearing is bad because a wheel bearing movement is almost the same as a tie rod movement. Hope this helps.
