Whistling WOT 6spd... Gear whine?

So I posted this in the "Im new here..." thread but didn't get any help.

I have an 02 6 speed. There seems to be a whining/whistling sound coming from the engine bay ONLY WHEN I ACCELERATE IN GEAR.

If I rev the car, no noise. It only happens at certain speeds(such as 40 mph in 4th, 5th, and 6th). Doesnt happen at lower speeds (1st/2nd).

I have uploaded a video to give you a visual. In the video I am alternating between accelerating/not accelerating. The noise is pretty audible.

Does anyone know whats wrong with my car?!

This sounds like the rear diff in my parents Exploder (Explorer). Also only when you accelerate. So my guess is it's something to do with the differential. I'm not too deep into Maxima's yet since my purchase was recent (already ordered spacers, did muffler delete ect though) but hopefully that tidbit of advice can help you and maybe someone else to figure out what the problem is. It does sound exactly like our Explorer though so look into maybe getting the diff checked out. Someone else will chime in I'm sure.

This is the Explorer, it's loud overall so it's hard to make out. It's very defined in person and sounds identical to your Max. Only reason I still think its a gear since you mentioned that in the first place I took this on the way home from work. Nissan gave me the wrong coolant water pipe for my oil cooler so I had to drive this POS.

The maxima's differential fluid is the same as the transmission fluid right?

I believe there might be a transmission leak because there seems to be a dent on the bottom of the transmission with oil gunk all around the dent.

I don't have a 10mm Hex socket to open the fill plug and check the transmission fluid but thank you YGG. Ill check it ASAP

Maxx6spd - I tried that. No difference.

Yeah, no problem. I hope you could hear it well enough. Maybe I should check up on the Exploder for my dad, something is always wrong with it. Pick up a socket if you can, shouldn't cost you too much. I haven't had to touch my tranny yet, can you use a wrench or is it too tight to get in there?

sounds like it's probably whine from the diff to me. doesn't seem to be loud enough to be worrisome to me though.

^ that's what I thought but then it would do it all the time not just accelerating. Or only when the clutch is engaged.

try rotating your tires and see if you still get the noise. I had a similar no worries on my Mazda from bad. tires. It's free and worth a shot my opinion

the throwout bearing only spins when you press in the clutch pedal. when you don't have your foot on the clutch it sits there doing nothing.
