Um, 2003 Maxima's only came with 4 speed automatic transmissions, not 5spd.

Are you talking about the 4AT or 5AT?

Either way,

If he turns his 4AT into a 5AT, Hope to god he doesn't get one of the bad 5ATs from the 6th gen...which is really the only 5AT he can get...which makes the point moot.

Truth^

If you have the 4AT now keep it and don't go for the 5at from the 6th gen. If your looking for more power out of your maxima do a 5spd swap.

I have a driven a 6th gen with a six speed before on the highways of NJ MAN WHAT A CAR and it might just be my next. HUGE night and day difference between it and my 5th gen auto here. Screw automatic and do the driving yourself, get a 6th gen 6 speed.

congrats on getting the swap done!

more HP to the wheels, better gas mileage, lsd, faster ETs, it's a win win all over. The auto just robs so much power it's crazy.

Sorry there were no bolts in the swap. I completely forgot about them.

Be nice to be on the same dyno, but if it were the same type of dyno with the same correction factor (assuming dynojet) that's awesome right there.

These numbers were nearly my exact numbers before the 3" exhaust and test pipe, might want to look into that.

A 3" will be coming up soon. Both were done on mustang dynos one at the performance shop the other and my buddy's motor shop. I'm waiting to get most my mods done before I make the 3.5 hour drive to the Dyno jet and get a tune

Or I can keep my 5.5 gen 6 Speed and go faster.

Clear offset in weight but possibly makes up for it with the final drive. So, who knows.

Yeah, it may but I'm not worried about who's Maxima gets to 140mph first. I'm not sure where that would come into play, but screw practicality, we all want the best so we pick apart the flaws of other cars where it might not even matter in the real world.

No, im saying that if I had the chance and funds to swap to a six speed I would go for one out of a 6th gen. It just has a better design to it, better ratios and feels great !

100% true, even the Nissan parts rep agreed while I was trying to get my oil cooler line sorted today. (Still not sorted, ordered wrong part after giving me the wrong part in the first place, should be Maxing around again tomorrow finally)
