Cattmans' Catback System looks NICE!

I'm not sure when he'll get the B-pipe section done and the complete setup test fitted. The B-pipe will be available seperately with a perforated resonator.

The muffler section is a perforated design and it has rolled chrome DUAL tips with double perforated walls. Looks pretty sweet.

Just thought some people might want to know before they go with a Greddy.

Thanks for the info. Does this apply to the 2k and 2k1? I might just grab a b-pipe and keep my stock muffler. Do you know what it is made from? Why is the res perforated? What are the gains to this?

I think the perforated walls is used to tune the sound of the exhaust, I think they act like a miny resonator.

...

He doesn't know exactly what the complete setup will cost yet, since the B-pipe still doesn't have a resonator. However, I suspect around $400.

Perforation is a better way of reducing sound compared to louvers, which cause turbulance and reduce flow.

I'm interested in the b-pipe for a 2k1. Depends on price and what it is made from.

No one else will have pics, since it's NOT available yet. I'll try to take one next time, but Cattman probably will have some pics available by then.

If memory serves me right, the B-pipe yielded a extra ~5 HP. Hmmm... bolts onto stock with the right price, sounds like a highly possible next mod for me

Please keep us posted.

i don't think b-pipe alone can yield that much hp...but then, the stock b-pipe is pretty narrow...

5 hp I doubt it...

Someone on here removed the exhaust after the cat and only gained 1-3hp, so any cat back is should not gain more than 1-2hp, if any. A Catback is not worth much performance wise, it's just for looks and sound. However, Import Tuner claims the HKS gained 5.3hp/4.4tq on a stock 5th gen., so who knows. I just have a hard time swallowing $400-600 for a catback when I can have a custom one for under $200. I just pick the muffler, resonator, and have a muffler shop put it all together with whatever tubing(size/material) I need.

BTW all the tubing on Cattmans' is 2-1/2" SS.

That's not quite accurate when you take your modifications as a whole, is it? I mean to say that a catback in combination with a hi-flow intake of some sort and a y-pipe will show combined gains. An intake and y-pipe become more effective when everything from the cat back breaths more freely...correct? You are just saying that taken by itself, a custom catback will not provide you any significant power gains?

I've seen both. It's TOTALY different. Different muffler, manufacture, and look.

Yours, I mean Zachs', is a custom design that MaxRev produced.

The biggest delay will be getting someone to buy one and test fit it, before he mass produces these.

Yes, these will be sold in LARGE quanitities on CustomMaxima.

I doubt there are huge gains to be had, but if you have already have a y-pipe and a hi-flow cat and you want to finish off the exhaust, it is a good choice. I personally, would get the b-pipe, but leave the stock muffler on...

I'm just quoting 5 hp from someone else research on the B-pipe mod. I couldn't find the link but it referred to a 5 hp difference between the infiniti I30 (I think) and the max. The person isolated the 5 hp to the b-pipe in the muffler setup.

Are you going to have just the b-pipe available for 2k-2k1 as well? I know a lot of us have been waiting on a pre fab b-pipe. What will it be made out of as well?
