Front & Rear Footwell LED's/Glove Box LED

Finally finished my foot-well LED's. The front were kind of easy to install. The backs were a b*tch, due to having to do extra wiring. I tapped into the courtesy lights in the a-pillar. For the rears i ran wires from the same courtesy wire and ran down the seat-belt pillar, under the carpet, cut a small slit by the back of seat & pulled wire up through the floor. I put female quick connect/disconnects on the wiring & male connect/disconnects on the actual LED strip. This allows me to change/swap out strips with no problems & with very little effort. I then had to run wires for the passenger side under the headliner and down the seat-belt pillar on the passenger side. Here are pics of the final results: (They look alot brighter in the pictures)

I had extra pieces of LED strip so i soldered in some new wires and installed it in my glove box. Here are the pics:

Looks good man, +1 on the non color choice, nice and clean.

Thanks for all the compliments. If you look at the pictures of the rear LED's, on the passenger side in the corner, you can see a black wire coming from the floor/carpet. That is the 2 wires wrapped in electrical tape that connect to the LED strips, to give you an idea if anyone plans on doing the rears. Also the strips are held in place with 2 black zip ties. One on each end.

Anyone ever do it to where the lights are on when the doors are closed and driving?

The Duke of NY May 28, 2013 06:18 PM

I'm sure its been done. You have to find a constant power source. One constant power source is the cigarette lighter underneath the climate control. For the rear you can use the accessory outlet above the cup holders on the floor.

Way better than i imagined by the thread title. I especially like the glovebox light.. (I might just have a new mod to add to my "to do" list...)

Yall both old fashioned. I have BLUE in mine now wha!! Dont care what yall think

ttap97 May 29, 2013 01:11 AM

How did you mount it on the seats??

TunerMaxima3000 May 29, 2013 10:53 AM

I had blue in mine for ambient lighting but it was too much so I cut the wire, lol.

I never did anything for when I open the door since this mod, because it's crazy bright already:

Mounted the strips with zip-ties. One on each end of the strip. If you feel below the seat, there is a bar underneath the felt covering. That is what i mounted it to. Just make sure you move the strip enough so it is not showing.

Excellent work Duke. Did you ever work out the HVAC lights?

The Duke of NY May 30, 2013 09:14 PM

Going to PM you. I also sent a couple of customers for the grounding kit your way.... not sure if they contacted you yet.

HEYY!!! Why Don't I have constant power at my Cig Lighter! Neither one I hate it cuz i gotta turn key to charge my Phone.

TunerMaxima3000 May 31, 2013 07:41 AM

You shouldn't have constant power there iirc. Only when the key is on. Otherwise if you left a device plugged in, when you shut the car off the battery would die
