03 maxima brake pads
I am looking for some new brake pads for my 03 maxima.
anyone know what brake pads are good for city driving (lots of stop signs and traffic lights, etc) and relatively a good price.
edit: oh btw.. its a automatic front wheel drive.

I use these
The PBR Axxis Deluxe Plus brake pads offer an exclusive OE equivalent organic and mild ceramic compound that provides outstanding stopping power with very low fade. Extremely quiet with proven long pad and rotor life and low rotor scoring. These pads are formulated from the latest premium quality materials, and are known for their extremely low dust. The Deluxe Plus brake pads will virtually elminate brake dust, without hurting performance.

I recently installed Akebono ProACT pads in the front and rear on my 02 Max and I'm pretty pleased. They're good for both city and high speed driving, and they're also dead silent. They are were a definite upgrade compared to the CarQuest ceramics I had on before.
Just recently put Akebono ProAct pads and Brembo rotors on my '03. I put them on a few days before traveling to Tampa, which is a good four hour trip for me. There's plenty of rural Florida back roads and crowded interstate congestion included so it was a good test.
I'm pretty impressed with performance, especially considering the brakes on a 5th gen are way too small. I felt no apparent break in period. No bedding required. They definitely perked my confidence after an hour of some Smokey and the Bandit back road action- getting a few good higher speed stops in to feel them out. The most noise I could produce was an extremely faint high pitch whistle. Which sounded badass.
Driving in a massive, Florida style thunderstorm downpour through downtown Tampa on the I75, tourists and transients alike flick on those hazards and abruptly switch lanes to pull off the side of the road. It was raining after all. To my delight....very responsive pedal feel, no fade.... even after waterboarding my rotors a couple of times to blast unsuspecting motorists. (Okay, maybe it wasn't that intentional)
Akebono has some pretty...($$$) impressive technologies ($$$) going into their products right now. I guess that's the benefit of being one of the largest OEM suppliers out there.

If you end up buying locally, ask the retailer for discounts, or for it to be put under an installers/commercial account.
We don't stock an entirely large amount of Akebono pads at the Napa I work at, but our cost is low enough to still be competitive with online pricing. Most places will be inclined to give you a discount when purchasing a 'premium' product. No harm in trying!
This is the link, I wish the forum would color code the link text blue but eh

I will look around a bit and compare all the choices listed above. I will try to make up my mind and buy some within this month or (maybe next month when I get my pay check)

I had both front and rear Hawk HPS/ Brembo rotors on my 3rd gen. I absolutely loved them. They were dusty, they were loud, they stunk, and they worked awesome.
HOWEVER. I don't know whether the pad composition has changed since I had my set... since they were probably from sometime around 2003. But I have since suggested them to a few of my friends. One with another third gen, one with an E92 335i, and another with a G35. They ALL had bad things to say, the 335i guy actually took them off after a few thousand miles.
I swore by Hawk pads since my experience was so good... but evidently reviews are all over the spectrum. I've read on countless forums that they are in NO WAY to be considered a track pad, and will fail under that kind of abuse... but I think we all realize that they're a street pad and should be used as such.
Try to get some feedback from people who have bought them RECENTLY (within the past few years), and put them on a 5th gen.
